Got 1st degree trespassing on my LR today-AMA

Doing my LR this morning around a college campus. There was a very enticing big turf field that I ran by. I saw a chink in the armor of the fence that circumnavigates the field, and I took advantage of it. Made it ~65mins until I was stopped by a fricking caravan of university police. I'm talking 2 cars and like 6 officers. 1 scrawny runner, against an army. The 'chief' or so I assumed, was giving me a whole speech about putting me in handcuffs because it'd make his job easier. All in all, I got banned from university grounds for 1 year. I don't think it's a misdemeanor, but I honestly don't really know. Oh, and I got disorderly conduct because I lied and said 'the gate was open an hour ago.' They didn't buy it. I guess that part was dumb, but I was flustered at the time.

I find that incredibly offensive.

Ha 'chink' I get it. That is the correct phrase right? I am a white male. I was running laps around the field, really good surface and I enjoy doing loops on my runs rather than out-and-backs

I thought that this was somehow going to be about you graduating from college while doing a long run, this is disappointing and stupid. Also, the phrase is "third degree".

Back in the late 80's, we had a training group of 8 guys with 2:13 to 2:26 marathon bests. Every 3 weeks, we used to run a long run around a turf soccer field. I have done up to 27 mile runs around that field. Built strength for marathons and winter cross.

Doesn't mean I believe the OP but your reason is the last one why.

What time of day was it? Ive done plenty of runs, up to 80 min, on soccer fields at a nearby university. I would just hop the fence and go. I always did this right when it turned dark. I tried a few times around 3 to 4pm, but always go told to leave.

Were you barefoot? The only reason I can think I would climb a fence to run around in circles is if I were looking for grass to run barefoot.

I once got "chased" by an old guy in a golf cart on a course in West Virginia. He kept telling me, "You can't run here." The fact that I was literally running there at the moment he said that caused some confusion, so like a dumb confused barefoot animal, I just kept running. Golf carts don't move very quickly.

Sounds like a fun fartlek run. Most golf carts get up to about 10+ MPH.
