Well, one reason is because this is an English language forum. Also, you might remember that we had a certain Indian resident of the UK repeatedly telling us Jim Ryun was capable of 1:38/3:24
Also, maybe the real question is why are there no Americans who persistantly defend American dope cheats, Brits who defend British dope cheats (even the Paula defenders don't appear to be British acting from nationalism), or Australians defending Australian dopers? Why is just Muslims and Turkish German benefit scroungers who persist in trumpeting obvious dopers?
Actually there are lot of posters here who claim that Ryun could have ran a lot faster, that Harbig could have ran close to modern equivalent world class times, and that Snell could have ran 1:41 or 1:42 on a modern track, and I'm one of them.
If you want a list off the top of my head of great runners I've claimed could have ran faster :
Harbig, Herb Elliott, Snell, Ryun, Walker, Ivo Van Damme, Jauntourena, Wottle
Also, the reason why I (and many others) claim that runners of the past could have ran faster, is because we're comparing their times to an era in which most of the fastest times and WRs were set by doped up cheats. Yeah, Aouita ran faster than Ovett, but we know Aouita was almost certainly doped to the gills.
As far as 87 is concerned, maybe you're autistic as well as your other faults, but I didn't literally mean that Ovett beat the entire world ranked top 50 that year. I meant he demonstrated his form over 5000m in HIS ONLY 5000m race that year before the WC, by coming second behind Aouita (just a second behind) in a world class field, which included both Castro brothers, as well as others such as Tim Hutchins. He was clearly better than his showing at the WC indicated. In fact, after that 5000m race in Spain, he seems to have developed problems, coming 11th in his next race (a 1500m).
You just have nothing to tell me about morality you odious little creep Saidapede. Aouita was chased out of Australia because he pressured young athletes he was coaching to take HGH - 'the only way to win'. His career was transformed the very time that HGH became available in the USA (where he started training in the winter in 83). One of his Belgian doctors (not sure just how many doctors he needed) was busted for supplying dozens of runners and cyclists with peds including EPO. Morocco was later demonstrated beyond doubt as home to endemic doping in middle and long distance. And yet you continue to defend this guy as your idol, and mock a natural talent like Ovett for not recording the same doped up times. You're disgusting.
