A distant second to Simone Biles according to ESPN’s “dominance ratings”

Maybe you should actually read the blurb on her...
I agree with this. This year alone she dominated the World Championships so much in artistic gymnastics that her performance would be the equivalent of a sub 2 marathon. Don't get me wrong....i am a huge Eliud fan, but the dominance ratings aee spot on. #1 is definitely Biles.

Well, it could be worse...
You could be Alex Ovechkin, Mike Trout, James Harden or Patrick Mahomes who all finished lower in the rankings than a freaking horse.
Patrick Mahomes should not even be on the list.
He is too new to be dominant.
It is a good list..but Mahomes? Nah
Us running nerds should be thrilled that he earned that kind of recognition.

It's not about their entire career or how long they have been good. It's only about what they have accomplished this season. Mahomes is leading the NFL in a bunch of categories. What qb has played better this year?

Yeah, having a horse on the list is ridiculous and I wouldn't call a race car driver an athlete. And UFC and gymnastics are low participation sports. I would argue that no other human being has ever lived that could match Kipchoge's WR.
He'd have been #1 had he dropped the beer belly from his photo illustration

Agreed. A race car driver could be obese and win every race and still wouldn’t be an athlete. Horses aren’t even human, man. They should throw Kevin Mayer on that list before half of the people that are on it (certainly before a dude that drives a car in circles). He’s literally the greatest all around athlete on the planet by far.
This is the most attention anyone in the sport has had in the mainstream media outside of Usain Bolt. Even more remarkable considering he’s not trying for the attention or publicity. And to think Brits in their little bubble were arguing for Mo Farah on the linked thread.
They don't say top professional athletes. If you want an athletically dominant quarterback, it should have probably been Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama. Personally, i can't see someone as dominating if their numbers are slightly above 2nd place in a category This why i really have an issue with any QB being on that list. But if there must be one, it should be Tua.

Most people are saying Biles has elevated herself to the levels of undisputed GOAT.
Kipchoge is for sure the marathon GOAT but is he the undisputed all-time running GOAT? I don't think we can say that yet. Bekele probably still has an edge.
You also have to consider the fact that Kipchoge only contested in 2 races all year. Biles had many more competitions where she dominated.
Lol no, Patrick Mahomes has better stats than Tua already, even comparing pro v college.
Also it should have been Mahomes on the list, not Brees. Brees is getting more credit because of his tenure, but has thrown nearly 1000 less yards and 12 less TDs. Why he's ahead baffles me..
Aaron Donald also could have made the list ahead of Mahomes.
Mahomes is putting up the best numbers of any quarterback in the NFL. Tua put up the second best numbers in college to Kyler Murray, who won the Heisman over him.
Regardless, having a collegiate athlete as "most dominant" doesn't necessarily make sense as they're not competing against the best competitors in their sport, just the best who happen to be around the same age and in the same NCAA divisional system.
How is a race horse, which is designed to "run races fast," any different than a world class marathon runner?

Biles won 3 golds (not counting team) 1 silver and 1 bronze in Doha 2018. However the two races that she didn’t win were her “off events”.
Kipchoge was 2/2 in WMM this year and ran unarguably the greatest marathon ever. I would say that it isn’t fare to elevate Biles ahead of Kipchoge because she does more events as the marathon is incredibly taxing and requires more buildup than a gymnastic event. Also, with a slight shift in training there isn’t a half marathon in 2018 that Kipchoge wouldn’t have won.
Kipchoge isn’t a track runner so it isn’t fare to bring in the “all-time best runner” conversation.
Kipchoge as a marathon runner was more dominant than Biles as a gymnast in 2018.

I'd classify any Formula 1 driver as an athlete. Nascar...maybe a few of them. Totally different kind of racing.

Bekele is the undisputed goat.
