Why would either school being making an excuse?

Yet, she went to Georgia?

Dream school or not, I wouldn't have gone to Texas either with Sategna in charge. Not the Floreal is leading the Texas T&F program, perhaps that made all the difference in the world.
Typo above. Meant "Now" instead of "Not"
What did the NCAA say about her hardship waiver? They rejected it?
What did Georgia say in the hearing?
Everybody told her to start being a team player.
You speak the truth.

After all that drama, she is going to Texas after all. She knew it all along.
I have it on good authority that she never visited any other schools.
Texas would prefer if she redshirted this year anyway. Texas is going to stink this year, with or without Tara. If Flo is able to build the program the way they'd like, they can be very competitive again by Tara's 5th year.
This is why they should have let her compete for Texas this season. Now Texas doesn't have to try to convince her to redshirt and wait until her points will matter more. On top of that, how motivated do you think Tara will be now? My guess is she will be extremely fired up, hyperfocused and end up having some PRs when she can compete again.
We all know what running an 800m on pure hate can do for you! Georgia just gave Tara an endless supply of pure hate. Bad move by Petros no matter if you think Tara should be allowed to compete immediately or not. The best thing Petros could have done would have been to send her off with tons of love, praise and respect for her contribution of points at the national meet that led to a championship. Maybe Petros knows this is and wants the best for Tara so he's actually playing the bad guy to help her further her career? Little bit of a plot twist there.
She could be a good Heptathlete Good in the Jumps/Hurdles /Sprints and now with the pure hate add the 800, now all she needs to do is work on the Throws, or maybe just be an 800 runner, do you think she has enough pure hate to break Kratochvilova's long standing 1:53.28 in the 800, or maybe even break the 1:50.00 barrier?

please enlighten us on how the process actually works.
Athlete writes an initial request to be released. The athletic administration reviews and makes the initial decision.
Since it was denied the athlete writes another letter based on the denial. The coach also writes a letter to plead his case. A hearing is then scheduled with regular administration and the athlete can request to be there or have a phone conference.
Tara choose the phone conference.
They asked her some questions about the letter and allowed her to state why she wanted a release.
A couple of days after the hearing a letter was emailed stating they were upholding the coaches decision.
So the NCAA wasn't involved?
Is there an avenue for Texas to try getting a hardship waiver to get her able to compete this season, like some have mentioned?
Give it up
She tried and appealed and it’s over.
She’s at her dream school with a good coach (Now that Mario is gone), and there are plenty of opportunities to run unattached.
She’s fine. Just can’t compete in school uni or travel to meets On the school’s dime.
No more drama. What a relief.
Probably enough pure hate for a sub 2:20, which would get the job done.
Points?! This kid underperformed. Whatever she produced at indoor NCAAs was overshadowed by her choke job at outdoors. Petros is it in the business on hugs and cuddles. For better or worse he is in the cut throat business and that does have a shelf life.

I believe that there are some other avenues that she can explore to try and get a release. She is so happy currently we have decided as a family not to pursue. This will give coach Flo an opportunity to clean up some technical flaws and not have to try and rush to get her on the track.

And this is the final truth of the matter. She would have redshirted anyway. I wish all parties the best.
Will be interesting to see how Petros handles future outgoing transfers. What goes around comes around; he'll get what's coming to him sooner rather than later.
Texas hired Oregon softball head coach, Mike White pretty much the same time they hired Floreal. From October to December, six of the Ducks' players decided to transfer for the Spring semester. Four of them elected to transfer to Texas to rejoin their former head coach; all of them will be eligible to compete for Texas immediately this season. Classy move by Oregon to give these student-athletes their full release, especially given the circumstances of Coach White having left Oregon to coach at Texas.

No, they left to go play for the coach that recruited them, much different situation. Just sit and be quiet
