Some of the posters here do have a point. 24hrs is not a highly contested event. Breaking the course record at Comrades would be more impressive than the 24hr world record simply because of the quality of the fields that have contested that event in comparison.
All that said, way to go Camille! Keep at it and stick with smooth surfaces as you are clearly much better at those types or runs.

Wasn't there a video clip of Rupp doing a Chilly Willy around a turn in VF and people were saying the shoes was unstable in tight turns. Anyone here have experience with VF on the track and not as tight of turns? Would 24hr of that break someone? Maybe she felt she needed to get out of them to be able to finish.

She ate an entire fast food chain? Wow.
The original vaporflies were very soft and not good on tracks or surfaces with any kind of slant. The new flyknit versions are firmer and much better on turns/tilted surfaces. Even then I'd bet the reason she didn't do the entire race in them is due to the soft nature of the shoes becoming less desirable on the track surface (shorter distances are still really fun in the VF on tracks).

How about nothing was wrong with any of it. It was the situation. There was nothing wrong with what she did or how she acted. But it was a memorable thing that the people in the car will never forget. Yeah. She really is a nice person. I’ll gladly say that. But reality is people often act in ways that lead to being mocked. It’s part of life.

I think she said something about them hurting the tops of her feet, like she had the laces too tight. Hopefully she'll talk about it. I just heard her during the live feed after she finished. I don't know what she switched to and I may have misheard some of it. I wouldn't conclude anything or speculate too much until she talks about it directly.
David Proctor cheated & mocked the late Al Howie (anonymously of course). If Al were alive, he would have done much worse. They got off easy.

I don't think David Proctor cheated but he underestimated the skills of Al Howie.
She also took the US Women's 100 mile track record (13:25 ish) along the way.

This event was really interesting to watch unfold. The entire thing was live-streamed from several cameras around the track, as well as occasionally hand-held devices. There was occasional commentary from the race directing company & friends, interviews with the crews/aid station workers to get insight into how people were feeling, an impromptu interview with Courtney Dauwalter a little after she dropped, etc. A look into the future of what ultra race coverage could be.
Not to mention the drama of the last 45 minutes of the race. Other than Camille gunning for the WR, there was a 3-way race on the men's side for a spot on the US national 24 hour team, with guys dropping 7 minute miles after running 150 in 23.5 hours to try to outdistance each other. Oh, and one of those 3 ran his 155 miles in Teva sandals.

Fantastic job, Camille! What an accomplishment to turn around from recurrent stress fractures to Olympic trials qualifier and multiple ultra world records. 162.8 miles is seriously impressive for 24 hours. Remember just how off the charts Yiannis Kouros's records are, and this is 13.4% less, a very solid margin considering the strength of his record. There may be a margin of a few miles to make this record stronger with competition but it is still very good.
