Looks like a good debut. Not sure what the weather was like this year but it's usually hot/humid, not to mention a lot of people are training in colder places before this race. 2:19 seems pretty solid on a course that has some hills. I honestly believe if he debuted almost anywhere else (Berlin, Chicago, CIM, maybe even NYC) that he would have run an OTQ and threatened 2:15 at the very least. Interesting choice to debut at Honolulu the week after a loaded CIM field. Would have been interesting to see what he would have done there instead of playing the what if games. No idea his plan moving forward but he doesn't even have the option now to run the Trials versus continuing with the steeple. He's gonna have to run a spring or fall marathon if he wants the standard. Solid run tho.
