From last I looked, she made up a bit (small, I know, half mile) on Bitters. Is she pushing towards the 100 mark?

Looking like she'll pass him within the next lap or two and be less than two laps down on him.

He just finished a transcon and won't be ready to race for a few more months.

This is turning into an extraordinary performance, especially if she pushes past 100
she's made up a half mile on Bitter and Reagan. seems early to be pushing for the 100mi split as she's way ahead of that american record anyway. maybe going for a 12hr split? they aren't listing the womens 12hr record so I'm guessing that nobody is aiming at that. actually I googled it, it's 145km by Ann Trason. so she has 11.2 km to cover in the next 51 minutes. that's 4.55 min/km or 7:20 miles.
that must be her target. 51 minutes at 7:20 pace.

I am more worried that she stumbles and get another concision. But yes, almost every excuse will be possible.
I don't know where she gets the "excuse" rap, but years ago I was checking out her website and was startled at the number of excuses she offered in blog posts for her slower times in non ultra distances...and this was before she did any ultras, so the whole thing was an excuse litany. Then I accidentally discovered an unprotected directory that had various versions of her athletic resume, which at the time were not linked to her site but were live on the web as if she planned to link them. All of her PRs at shorter than 13.1, and maybe those too, came with some kind of disclaimer in parentheses, like "very rainy" or "large uphill in last mile" or "raced marathon previous week." I found it weird, but not unprecedented, that someone with a relatively high profile would PUBLICLY OFFER that stuff, because even the pros who make a lot of excuses generally know to keep them unspoken.
Then again who knows, maybe that's what it takes to attain perfection, is not tolerate anything seen as an imperfection.

Camille gets on Zach's shoulder. Zach drops a 1:57 lap to put some more distance on her. A lap later Camille lays down a couple sub 2s in a row, but Zach counters with sub 2s himself to open up an 8 second lead (on staying two laps up)...
Hopefully it just looks like they're racing and they're not really racing at less than half way through the race.
If she's pushing at this point it would almost certainly indicate that she's going for an intermediate mark and will abort the 24 hour attempt.

That's what I am thinking. She needs a good way out of this. She might make it too 100 miles but I can't imagine she will go much further.
The U.S. womens 100-mile track record is a slam dunk right now, but her "trail" record of under 12 hours is not in reach. I think she is going the full distance.
I think I stumbled over that page too.
Who was that Olympian who just fell down on the track rather than admit defeat? (Hint: more than one answer is correct.)
Zach has sped up. Camille seems to be running a steady 8 mpm pace.

Usain Bolt?
Although I think you were going for that prostitute lady
She's an escort. Prostitutes use more tissue.
Don’t forget Mary Slaney, who was somehow “taken out” by that tiny barefooted girl. I just don’t believe ultra runners can match the whoppers that track stars have offered us.

Evan Jager.

Suzy Favor Hamilton?

I can't figure out how to get all the splits from the provided tracker, so I'll just post some current updates so we can come check these in a few hours to see how paces change.
Zach Bitter at 77.3mi in 10h13min (7.93 min/mi)
Camille 76.3
Patrick R 74.3 (8.25 min/mi)
Jacob J 72.3
Zach Gingerich 70.1 (8.75 min/mi)
Pete K 66.6 (9.2 min/mi)
all at same time, 10h13min. give or take a minute but whatever
not sure if all these people are aiming for 24hr, especially Zach G and Jacob J. I skipped a few people btw.
for reference, 8:00/mi for 24hr is 180 miles (WR 188 miles)
8:30/mi is 169 miles (172 is the american record, I think)
9:00/mi is 160 miles (161 is the womens WR, 155 is AR)
if kostelnick is already behind 9min pace, he either had some stomach issues early and took breaks or he is already totally out of the race.
I'm now gonna list the gap (in miles) behind Zach Bitter, the leader.
10hr13min 12hr3min
1.0 0.75 Camille H
3.0 4.0 Patrick R
5.0 6.0 Jacob J
7.2 9.5 Zach Gingerich
leaving Kostelnick out for now.
As you can see, in the last 2 hours Zach has gained on everybody except Camille. She was at one point 2 laps behind and is currently 3 laps behind.
Zach is supposedly 8.2% ahead of american record pace. Patrick is 4.2% ahead.
Okay folks, big news. Turns out that Micah Morgan is female, and is also ahead of world record pace. Sorry that I left her out. She's basically exactly on pace for the 24hr world record so there's 0% chance she will get it (nobody negative splits). Camille is 9.5% ahead of the WR at this point, FYI.
Micah Morgan ran a little over 76 miles in 12 hours in Alabama 6 weeks ago.
