I keep reading posts on here saying young runners, in high school/college, have rapid metabolisms and can basically eat whatever/as much as they want without putting on weight. However, I keep stressing that I'll overeat and gain weight if I listen to my appetite and eat a lot, so I've been "limiting" myself to 3000-3500 calories daily (with a lot of sugar free stuff), and even then I feel like that is too much. I weigh myself every morning, but I fall victim to fluctuations that may occur as a result of eating too close too bed, eating too much fiber the day before, etc.
I guess what I'm trying to ask is if this thinking about calories and limiting my intake is worth it, especially at my age. I pass up so many opportunities to enjoy good food with friends or on vacation, and there are tons of places in my area that I would love to try at least once in my life. I don't want to grow up regretting this restrictive mindset. Anyone can relate?
