Thank you in advance to anyone who is willing to help me.
A little about myself, I’m 5’9” 145 lbs and I’ve never been a runner. I never had any reason to as I was a bookworm in highschool and chose a job over sports. I’m not out of shape by any means, I’ve got very little body fat and I’ve got a naturally lean body.
Here’s my problem. I’m going into the Air Force to be a Special Forces Operator, and I’ve got to cut back on my 1.5 mile time by a fair amount. Like I said, I’m not much of a runner, but now this is lookin me dead in the eyes and I’ve gotta be. My current mile time (recorded tonight) is 12:08, which is the best I’ve done. I’ve probably run eight times in the last month and cut my time down from 15:30, so I’m not too discouraged, but I need advice big time because I’ve got to get it down to 10:10 at the most.
Goal: 10:10
Current: 12:08
Avg pace current: 8’/03”
If y’all could, I just want to know how likely it is that I can meet my goal of 10:10 and what I need to do to get there?
Thank you,
J.S.
