Just noticed that Liam Anderson has a unique skill set. He's only run 1:59, 4:09, yet has run 8:52.
Has there ever been such a "slow" champion in Foot Locker? Barely sub-2?

No way. Footlocker has only been won by guys with real credentials. This guy will probably great when he moves up to 10k though.
Chris Derrick comes to mind.
Is this really the best metric though? I’m sure he’s more slow twitch but his 800m PR might not be indicative of his ability.
Every day someone posts on here as if someone's PR at a distance is an indisputable fact as to that person's actual ability at that distance.

+1
I agree. I think Rupp can break 2 hours but just hasn’t done it yet. Watch people argue the other side. Centro can break the world record in the 1500 if he goes for it instead of just running to win. Sorry but your PR is all we have until you run faster.

That's ridiculous logic. He probably ran that time in a dual meet where second place was 2:05. Bill McChesney's HS PR in the 5000 was around 14:50, but somehow, he ran 29:07 in the 10,000.

Correction. He did run 14:0X at a postseason meet, but from April to June he would have had a 5K PR at a slower pace than his 10K PR.

I'm pretty sure there are some Footlocker winners who didn't even HAVE a HS 800m time. Verzbicas in 2010 and 2011 didn't at least.

If he has run 4:09...fellas, he can run at least 1:57 fresh no problem. I’ve never seen a sub 4:10 guy who couldn’t run sub 1:58 in a well paced 800m race run around the same 2-3 week period as his 1600m/mile p.r
Don't ya think if he wanted to run an 800 he could run faster than his listed PR?
Rupp can run faster than 1:59 in the marathon too. You guys try to argue it both ways. Who else is faster than their PRs? Only the ones that you choose to be.
LV was like Lagat and el G. Pure EPO endurance and no speed.
The kid can close a mile or 2 mile in 55, who cares what his 800 time is?
When he ran 4:09 to win the CA state title, he closed in 2:01.

0/10.
His 1:59 800 was run 2 hours before a 3200 as a tune-up race. He then ran 9:09. I was there when he did it and he looked relaxed for the 800.
Also, I've done research and in every race with recorded splits, Anderson has closed in 60 seconds. Never higher or lower.

You're dreaming, and making up things for which there's no evidence.
