If I seem strident on some of my above posts, I'm afraid that I feel there needs to be pushback against a strongly media-promoted diet/cult that is fundamentally flawed and has caused serious problems for many people,.
Are you serious? The media promotes being vegan? I have never seen a pro-vegan commercial, especially one with regards to the ethics of it. Popular reception of veganism is exactly what we've seen on this thread. The majority of people hate the idea of veganism. I've seen publicity with regards to plant-based diets for their health benefits, but NEVER one for veganism.
I mean, Oprah even got publicly sued by Cattlemen over just saying meat was unhealthy. If Oprah isn't safe, a rich celebrity with a lot of status, who is?
How many characters on popular shows are vegans? How many politicians are outwardly vegan? Does the government promote being vegan? Do we see signs in the subway for "eating vegan?"
All of these questions are answered in the negative! Vegan diets are only popular among vegan people-- pretty much everyone else hates the vegan diet for the threat they see in it: that all of their delicious food will be taken away.
The only way a lot of people get exposed to veganism is through the cube of truth, and most people avoid it like the plague because it's horrible to see slaughterhouse footage.
Don't be coy and pretend that being vegan is a popular option. Go to any group of people you see on the street and say, "Hi, I'm vegan." And see the response you get. It'll be mixed, bad, or in an extremely low percentage of cases, one of the people will say, me too! Hell, even family members can hate you for going vegan. You don't even have to be one of the preachy ones to get laughed out of your family.
Please do some critical thinking before you post one of your ranting, unintelligible, profanity-laden responses. They make you look like a fool.
