What has your diet been like after quitting the veg life?
Roughly speaking:
age 15-29 (vegetarian, some vegan): Strong steady decline of health to almost complete decrepitude.
29-mid-50s (Omnivore but still high-carb, no refined sugars): recovered, ran some good races between setbacks, but then slow steady decline in my 50s, including some scary stuff I prefer not to disclose here .
Late 50s to present: (low-carb/keto, now with intermittent fasting, generally reducing plant products): Dramatic improvements on all nagging issues (infections, injuries, etc). Best health of my life now at 62, literally no issues after always having some sort of allergy, aches and pains, brain fog, digestive issues etc. Able to train without worry for the first time. Literally a new life, but still evolving with an open mind, as I am learning better every day what works for me.
If I seem strident on some of my above posts, I'm afraid that I feel there needs to be pushback against a strongly media-promoted diet/cult that is fundamentally flawed and has caused serious problems for many people, but of course it is from my own personal experience and that of others I know, including former and current vegans.
