OP, do not smoke.

Quitting vaping took 10 seconds off my friend’s 800 from the end of indoor to the end of outdoor. 2:07 in beginning of indoor to 1:57 by the end of outdoor. After his first week quitting vaping he improved his 800 from 2:07 to 2:04.

Just Dipp. Nordic skiers have been ahead of the curve on this for decades. You can dip WHILE racing without any deleterious effects. Plus the nico buzz helps get the poop out before the gun.
Look the harm of vape is not demonstrated or show in laboratories because it will take years and years after we will really know what is the harm from the vape. But as a vaper, I can tell you that it will affect your running and the other thing I observed is that when I get sick my cough
is wetter than when I smoked cigarettes. Now I only have some portable vapes that I use but want to quit them too because yes they help me quit cigarettes, now I will quit them. But don't start with vape, it's not worth it to become a smoker
This thread needs to be deleted, look at all the scummy posts from the vaping companies.

A kid on my high school team vaped daily and ran a 16:37 3 mile as a junior. He was also an alternate for our varsity team
3 years after the fact, so probably not reaching you but hopefully someone who is interested in learning about or considering vaping and running.
- Nicotine constricts your blood vessels and makes your heart beat faster. This effect will last for a few hours to an entire day depending on how much you injected.
- When vaping, you are bringing evaporated oil into your lungs, which isn’t nearly as harmful/toxic as smoke, but it does saturate your bronchi with oil over time, as well as cause inflammation in some cases. This stops your lungs from using air efficiently. This will effectively lower your Vo2Max until you can clear all of that stuff out of your lungs. If you hit a vape pen every few days or weeks, this will be negligible, if you’re doing it every day, you’re going to have a lot of buildup that your body doesn’t have time to clear.
-Nicotine is shown to increase anxiety and blood pressure, decrease quality of sleep, and make it harder to fall asleep in general.
^ all of these will negatively effect your running. I’m personally in the camp that vaping isn’t the absolute worst thing to do to your body, and I know a lot of people that do it moderately who are in good overall health. That being said, if you want to be an elite athlete that needs to move every ounce of blood and oxygen through their body as efficiently as possible, vaping ain’t the way to do it.

some people can reach a high level of performance while doing harmful things to their body. others cannot. if you can reach your goals while having fun, vape. but know that if you ever want to achieve more, vaping will have to go away at least for a bit. would also say their are more "benefits" to thc (pain/anxiety relief) than tobacco/nicotine (head rush, no euphoria).
