Many kids on my team vape and claim it does not affect them when they run. Can anyone confirm this for me or give some background on smoking anything and vaping at all?

The kids on your team are right. Why doesn’t everyone just ingest harmful addictive chemicals in the form of water vapor especially runners.

Bad idea intentionally putting water vapor into your lungs
i vape almost constantly and it doesn't effect my running. i was a pretty heavy chainsmoker in my 20s, long before i even got into running. i am definitely not proud of it and don't flaunt the thing, but when i am at home i do it a lot. i love nicotine.
It probably won't affect you much in the short term, but it WILL catch up to you. Quitting is hard, but it will be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.
Bad idea I had a kid on my cross country team this year who couldn’t stop wheezing mid race and had to stop for a minute to catch his breath, some people on my team also noticed they were unusually short of breath while running, of the 5 kids on my team who vaped only one had a better time from the previous season, I did not vape and I improved throughout, unlike some of my friends, I think its safe to say that it’s good to stay away from
What's the point of vaping, anyway? Smoking cigs may be kind of cool, but vaping just looks dumb. Can't figure out the attraction, aside from "real" smokers quitting using the devices.

Just leave it alone, seriously, especially in HS.
If you ever find yourself wanting to use cannabis once in college, just vape it. Maybe every once in a while in the off season, indulge if ya'd like, just don't be the cliche idiot.
The reality is, even the elites have their "vices," listen to your body, get your sleep and eat clean. Once you get to college, booze is 10x more detrimental to performance and body composition than a teammate smoking a bowl.

It makes you look like a loser, trust me, it might feel “cool” but it isn’t, the majority of society are laughing at you for sucking those electronic d*cks. They make you like like a total brainless sissy, seriously. Plus, they are actually bad for you. Prolonged exposure to water vaper in your lungs change the structure of your lungs but by far the most dangerous thing about vapes is the metal exposure you get every time your metal coil heats up when you take a puff.
Ex-smokers will justify vaping until the cows come home telling you how it isn’t bad for you and that their lungs feel better since vaping but that isn’t because lf the vape, it is because of the lack of cigarettes, the only reason their lungs are improving is because pretty much anything will improve the sorry state their lungs are in after quitting cigarettes as long as they are off cigarettes. They’d find themselves in even bettr condition if they didn’t vape.
And as for runners who vape and say it doesn’t impact them, the vapes are the reason they run 5:09 in the mile Instead of 4:59. Cigarettes reduce and destroy people’s lung capacity instantly and are even worse than vapes but people forget that even though vaping doesn’t really have a huge impact in lung capacity, they are still very well causing you genetic damage because of the metal, toxins and by changing the way your lungs expand.
I am not an expert, just switched from smoking in favor to vaping and vape pod system Smok Novo 2 https://gypsyvapes.com/smok-novo-pod-kit , and I can claim I really breathe easier. As for those teenagers, I think it's better to run&vape, than only vape.
Is it OK to Run If You Vape? The short answer is, yes. For the most part. Vaping and running is a far healthier alternative to smoking. ... Smokers will have much more trouble running for even short distances than that of vapers and non-smokers and are at a much higher risk of cardiovascular problems when doing so. https://vapingdaily.com/ - if you need more information about it.
Vape EPO and you`ll be fine.
I used to vape, It's a minefield because some of these "vape juices" contain toxic substances because they are manufactured in a poor environment, there is next to no quality control regulations on the vaping industry so what do you expect. If you do vape I'd advise sticking to a massive company like JUUL where they are under heavy scrutiny so there is pressure to keep standards high and also JUUL liquids are a higher dosage of nicotine with less vapour being produced so you can still get nicotine without inhaling a giant cloud of crap into your lungs.
I quit vaping earlier this year and now I'm addicted to nicotine gum instead, funnily enough I never smoked more than 5 cigarettes in my life, I got addicted to nicotine through vaping.
As far as the effect on running I've felt 0 difference since stopping vaping and using gum instead. I even go out on a run with nicotine gum in my mouth lol, by itself in a relatively harmless form like a gum nicotine is actually a performance enhancer similar to caffeine who no more adverse effects than coffee other than the fact that it's far more addictive.
