Totally disturbs me that you are a coach, especially to young kids, even if you were bull $hi--ing about the four Olympic and world medalists. In my brief time here I've revealed that the coach of Beyer, Straub, and Herold was convicted in a (post-unification) court of supplying potentially lethal illegal drugs to a 14 year old female athlete of his. Just last week I revealed here that that the coach of Bett was also the coach of Ferguson Riotich, the coach of this year's Kenyan Commonwealth team, and had another young athlete, a junior star, who was suspended for EPO use and died suddenly at age 20. (not saying I've done anything special, just the failing of this forum (who can catch Strava cheats like professional sleuths) and the journalists such as Jonathon Gault, who should be able to do what it takes me 10 minutes of Googling to achieve).
Even if I am a bit chauvanistic about British and non-East African runners, anyone who gives a fig leaf about anti-doping (and this includes MindWeak) could see that I'm a net positive here.
I barely ever even post in the many anti-immigration or Conservative threads that are always on the front page. Just because I get excited about the first great non-East African talent to emerge in three decades, and because I do a service in exposing the extent of the doping endemic in Kenya, I'm labelled a hardcore racist who only posts on StormFront other than here.
This place has been nearly entirely taken over by hardcore East African doping apologists.
he'll end up a steepler
Your comments about Ryun are crap. The reason he didn't run in 76 was that he ran in a professional league which disqualified him and he wasn't in politics until the mid-90's. You state as fact that he was mentally weak, instead of burntout, even though it's only your opinion.
How does a "family support system" make any difference? Very few WR holders and gold medal winners had brothers to train with.
You think Jakob Ingebrigsten will be a more successful, faster runner than Bernard Lagat?! I know Letsrun is famous for its speculation, but come on.
If this is a troll, I give it 10/10 because it's so nicely naive.
Here's my challenge:
Name any current runner on Earth that can/has run the times you are talking about?
Yes, I do. What makes you think he can't? He's already ran 3:31 at age 17. He improved 8 seconds in a single year. He has some of the best training out there with his dad coaching him and being pushed by his two older brothers every day. We haven't seen anything like him.

You say we haven't seen anything like him - but give him a couple of years and he'll look like any other 3:29ish pro runner
Totally agree. A legit journalist would not sit idly by regarding Farah's Aden connection, or even what has transpired with the Sabadell bust. Sooooo freaking weak. Journalism nowadays is copy and paste the info of others and a fluff piece on an African travel experience.

WTF are you on about? What medalists?
Paula - obviously. No contest.
We'll see if he has a career like Alan Webb or not.
It's interesting to see a non-African do so well at such a young age. Does he have more advantages living in a rich country? It's possible his upbringing has allowed him to maximize his potential quickly, but his peak may not be necessarily higher than the all-time greats.

"He's already RUN 3:31 at age 17."
RUN, not ran.
Can't believe how dumb some of you are.
That's an Ad Hominem. You're attacking me instead of trying to argue against what I said. Besides, like a simple grammatical mistake matters that much anyway. You jackass.

It definitely matters. Practice excellence, and it becomes a habit. Poor writing destroys credibility.
It doesn't in this context. You're excellent at being a doucher.

I think if 'he had advantages living in a rich country', we would be seeing a different balance of power in athletics than we do today.
However, it's not a completely invalid point. I guess things like fitness trackers, social media, internet forums like this, are helping to make running more popular in the West among the young and enable them to train in some ways better at 14 than most of the greats of the past weren't able to at their peak. Kenyans can have these things too but they're not quite as easy to access at an early age.
This is probably why there is a wave of talent coming through that's more exciting than at any time since the Coe, Ovett, Cram era.
This doesn't really apply to Jakob though, because he was always destined for running.

Coevett means white talent. But he is not a racist.

No I meant European talent, and I wasn't even talking about the sprints.
Having said, pretty sure nearly everybody here knows that probably every single one of those 97 WC gold medalists was absolutely juiced to the gills.
A couple of days ago I tried to find betting odds on the Doha world championships or Tokyo Olympics, but athletics has fallen so far that you can bet on chess or esports, but not major athletics championships anymore.
I was planning to put some money on Jakob winning 1500 gold this year, but I guess even if you could bet now, his odds would have shortened dramatically after last night.
I wonder if any bookmaker did offer odds, what the odds would be of Max Burgin winning 800 and Jakob the 1500 in Tokyo?
I would say there is a 50/50 chance of Jakob winning Gold in Doha at this point. Looks like Manangoi's injury is quite serious, and Tim is not a great championship runner even if he can hold this form for another 3 months. Aside from peaking for Doha, Jakob is still literally improving month by month simply through being 18.
