She will be injured when she falls behind Covert. That's what many of you will believe when she DNFs due to some minor issue that will spring up 1 mile into the race.

The only way I can see KT losing is if she gets hurt or has a mental meltdown; she has seemed like a head case a time or 2 in the past. I am predicting KT FTW!
No idea who KT is, but Katelyn Tuohy should win and you're far from the only one predicting that. Regardless, it may be closer than many think.

You know exactly what he meant

Agree. KT seems like the obvious favorite. Now that tully reports are out, u gotta b crazy to think Covert has a chance.... she's like 20 pts behind!
There is more to XC than times. If the MN girls hammer the first mile, Tuohy will cash it in.
Yes, that is a good strategy. Tuohy hates to go out fast.

It was a strategy London Culbreath last year really used to great effec- Oh..... Yeah......
Culbreath did wear Tuohy down. Tuohy was one of the few top finishing runners to run a slower pace from 2 miles to the finish than in the 2nd mile. Of course her 5:32 mile pace (vs 5:30 for her 2nd mile after 5:07 for 1st mile) for that stretch was still the fastest in the field. Culbreath? Her mile times were 5:24/6:04/6:18 (mile pace for 2 mile mark to 5 k). But you have to give her credit. She tried to go out hard.

Don't think you understand what the term 'wear someone down' means then bro. Culbreath ran 5:24 the first mile, Tuohy ran 5:07.
They weren't in the same race anymore by that point. Tuohy ran a slower 3rd mile probs due to lack of competition.
The MN girls are working together to take it out in 5 minutes. Tuohy will give up. Covert will finish first with a smile on her face.
My last two posts were not to be taken seriously (including the one on Tuohy not liking to go out fast). It's kinda tough to say the person who ran the fastest last mile was "worn down". Her last mile being slightly slower than her 2nd was probably more due to the fact that she also ran the fastest 2nd mile by far, and as you point out she had no competition after the mile (or perhaps the 1 k mark?). 95% of the field was over 6:00 for the 2nd mile. But perhaps I was a little too subtle in the other post.

Sorry bro. Sarcasm isn't easy to follow on here!
You can't spell "PR'ing" without PING

Too bad Ping isn’t in this race
Covert has been having an incredible season, but I would be surprised if she even beats Chmiel. Keep in mind Chmiel dropped a 163 in like September and has been keeping it low-key ever since. Tuohy will win, but Chmiel will be closer than last year.

Oh, and the favorite at Footlocker is Masciarelli, not Covert.
To be honest I want covert to win this. But in the event she doesn't I do think she will have more long term success look at the facts two years ago she wasn't even a favorite to win her own state cross country meet and now she's one of the best in the nation the kid is elite there is no doubt about it and her improvements are unheard of no one else has grown at the rate she has if it's not now it will be eventual covert is just the more athletic and has more potential is what it is

It's better to look at this from a "first 800m" perspective than a "first mile".
Because XC kids are pretty smart, so girls who want to try that whole "wear Katelyn down" thing usually realize the folly in that quickly and rethink the paradigm by 800m.

I know of someone who has ‘grown at the rate she has’. Katelyn Tuohy. Looking on athletic.net, they ran similar times 2 years ago. Coincidentally, Tuohy also didn’t win her stare meet 2 years ago.
