I’m actually planning on moving back to CA. Love the weather, the cultures, the beach, the vibe.
Thing I love most about California? The quality of the produce.
And those immigrants who don’t speak English are the ones who have the best restaurants and pick the best produce. So I’ll be real happy moving back.
Every time I think about cashing out of my house here in the bay area to buy a sweet remote property in a flyover state, I catch myself thinking of all the things I would be leaving behind if I left: a huge range of great produce, dozens of music venues both to attend and to play at, easy access to both mountains and the ocean, average summer highs of 75 at my house and winter highs around 50, etc.
I don't love the traffic of course, but I mitigated that issue by changing to a job I do mostly from home and when I do need to drive, it is off hours.
If I could have those 20 to 50 acres I want, it would be pretty much perfect.
