Tuohy has slipped over the last 5 weeks. Probably not the end of the season she was hoping for. Hopefully she can pull it together and crush Nationals.

The Wheeler sisters over performed for Saratoga and that was the deciding factor.
What is the NY/NE course like? Pretty slow times for stellar teams!
Muddy in some spots but overall was pretty good. I'm guessing 5-10 seconds slower than perfect conditions
Basically entirely uphill to halfway, some points pretty steep. If you look at the second half splits they're usually much quicker. It does seem like it was slower than usual this year, but in general it's slower than a lot of the other courses in the area

Tuohy split 8:33, 8;41 so big positive split even with the downhill. Actually, it seems like a lot of the NY girls positive split the second half which is surprising. The first 4 and 5 of the top 6 had pretty substantial positive splits...
It looks to me like overall FM outperformed a little, while the 2 Wheelers ran well, but other Saratoga girls had a bad day so the team as a whole essentially performed and things ended up very close. Chmiel getting beaten by Walters though is a mystery to me unless she is ill. Liverpools top 4 seemed to be about where you would expect but the #5 seemed to have a real bad day which dragged them down. Their top 4 were close to the others top 4 and on paper they had the strong #5 too.

Top 3 all we’re going hard . It looked at 2.25 chemiel was going to catch Walters . It looked to me at that point FM and Liverpool were even with toga in third , . Nice team race the 3-4-5 runners decided it ,
PA champs North Allegheny aka "Wexford Flats" finish 9th on the boy's and 3rd in the girl's. Shows how weak PA is?
Nah. I think they peaked well for States and just didn't have it on the boys side. They also have a pretty big spread, which hurts in big races.

That course was super slippery by the end. Really wet and chewed up.

Dude...she won. What the hell is wrong with people?

Look, Tuohy is so much better than everyone else she can run at 70% and win. That means just because she wins doesn’t mean she’s running great. You could say she wasn’t running it all out, but she’s put in efforts of 173-175 in “workouts.” Her speed rating was 165 today. She was 175-177 consistently at the start and then ran a 172 speed rating all out at Rockland County Championships and hasn’t really run well since then. I understand the knee injury but she was slightly slipping before then. I’m just saying don’t expect Nats to be better than her early season races. She will win, just not by nearly as much as she would have 2 months ago.

looks like Stokes won, Weilbaker (?) was 2nd, FM 3rd and 4th, based on one photo from finish
I coached Stokes in 9th and 10th grades. In August of his 9th grade year he was one of many freshman and didn't even really standout.
By October he was 5th man and we ended up 2nd at States.
He's a great kid- student/athlete, polite, he was the Spartan at Homecoming (elected by the students)!

Good description. And, you have to get out very fast to not be boxed in at that gate and the downhills in the woods are scary steep with sharp turns.
The finish around the big field is brutal after all that.

I wondered- I made a comment about Stokes's time being good for the conditions and I was rebuked on FB by someone saying the course was in great shape and the weather was perfect.
The person doesn't like me- kind of begrudges the success I had as a coach.

2.FM boys can thank their recruiters for the win next week ; looks like they are the team to beat.
Top four 5-man speed rating averages from the qualifiers were...
1. Great Oak 184.746
2. FM 183.974
3. West Ranch 183.692
4. Loudoun Valley 183.214
I don't have the data to look for "anomalies" in teams from outside NY, but FM's #5 was their normal #3, and ran about 6 points below his season average SR at the qualifier.
FM is absolutely in the gold medal discussion.
She appeared to have just run a nice pace, hardly looked tired at the finish, exchanged some sort of greeting with Centro as she finished. Compare that with how the next three runners looked.
Agree, I think states was the priority -- their school was the first team in PA history to sweep AAA boys and girls state titles, which is fantastic.
The PA talent was split this weekend since the Foot Locker regional race was going on simultaneously

Pretty accurate for the NY section but by the time of the NE the course was chewed up probbaly made it more like 15-20 seconds
Take it from the Hounddog, it was slick . Limiting the races to a 5 yard wide path and running a bunch of open races before was not a bright idea. I suppose it’s possible that a spectator could stand at one point on the gravel path and think it was fine , but the grass was slippery
It is also very windy/twisty in that playground area.
The hills are narrow AND everyone walking/jogging the course Friday doesn't help.
