Rottenoff hired at oklahoma. Everyone run. (Away that is)
What is this guys background? I have never heard of him. I went to the site but, no info was up yet.
"rotten"hoff. Follow his trail.
OH-OH This is the guy with all the baggage. He was at little rock-clemson and tennessee. Good luck to the coaches and watch your back.
You should check out the picture of this guy on the Un. of OK. athletic website. Absolutely priceless. Can you say cheese.
His bio looks good. The posts seem to make this guy out to be a monster. What has he done?
He's taken credit for things he hasn't done. Umm you probably need to do your own research ...talk to some of the girls he's had contact with ...some of the coaches he's back stabbed and you'll see what some of us already know.
I've heard that.
True... Very True.
Rothoff is very much a shady person. Much of is bio is right, but does make him out to be much better than he is.
His habbits started in College and he has run rampid ever since.
Don't trust him....and like said before watch your back.
His bio is so stretched. Can you say George O'Leary!!!!
Yeah, this guy sounds shady. There are so many people who applied for that job that were cool, respectable, and knowledgable. This guy looks and sounds like an absolute cheesehead. I had heard OU was offering $18,000-- is that even more than what he was making at Tennessee?
does anyone have any positive information on this guy?
NO. Sucks up to administration and tells them everthing the other coaches are doing. That's how he gets these jobs he uses adminstration contacts.
Here here. You are 100% right
This guy deserves more respect! The tenn distance program was nothing before he started: the facts please:
Before he arrived SEC 9th X/C....2nd this year past yr...
signed the stud miler from WIS who redshirted, the guliford girl who i think finished 6th at footlocker, he had the SEC 800 champ who he recruited. Matter of fact she ran 2:10 in HS...2:04.40 freshman yr. had another improve from 2:09 to 2:04......FIrst x/c all american at tenn in 11 years. So what does this guy have to do.....they have a chance to win the SEC x/c this yr because of him...
He did nothing at tenn to hurt the head coach...Did you read why she was fired in april?See the court dates..matter of fact this guy held the team together from what I saw first hand.
Oh, I did hear the committment that OU made to him for CROSS COUNRTY/distance. 4 mens scholarships and 6 woman. He may be a differnt guy, but he is a proven Div 1 coach who knows coaching and recruiting....JUST THE FACTS..
OK Rodney,
You want facts.
You had a girl transfer from litttle rock because you were HITTING on her. You did the same thing at Clemson and at Tennessee. I have names places and dates: You under mind head coaches (you told the AD's at Tennessee about the head coach)to make you look like the good guy, I know what happened at Clemson as well. I have so much stuff on you -I'm so close to nailing your behind. You just need to lay low and leave the sport. Oh! and stop bragging to people about your administration contacts because coaches know your real story and have little respect for you as a human being. I wish you all the best in changing your habits because you probably are a good coach.
You said it.
Change Rothoff or leave the sport.
How do guys actually get away with this stuff, and what does this say about the state of the people who are supposedly the ones in a developmental role, in our sport? Very sad indeed. Sadder that he was hired at all. It's like this stuff happens, everybody knows about it, then not one person does anything about it(I am speaking about the people who have knowledge of misconduct).
There are coaches who are idiots, but mean well. There are coaches that have incredible knowledge and coaching ability who never make the big time.
And then, there are coaches who would sell their mother's right leg to make a deal that makes them look like a good coach.
Roth-off is one.
Actual transcript of phone call and what balls to call another college coach to scam on talent
RR "Hey, ya, its Rodney Rothoff from Clemson. Remember me?"
ME "No"
RR "Well, anyway, your friend John is coaching that really good high school girl in Mississipi".
ME "You mean Tom?"
RR "Yeah, right, Tom. We're old friends. We ran against each other in college. Can you get me his home number?"
ME "Who are you again?"
Great recruiter? Yes, indeed. Will tell anybody anything.
His bio on OU's webpage:
- Volunteered at the '96 Olympics
"Hey guys, can you let me into the village?" "No" "OK, I'll stand out here and pickup trash until Dawn comes out. Thanks"
- Earned a USATF Level I certification in 1992 and then added Level III in 1995 (What no Level II? Just leap frogged over the requirements. For a Level III, you must first get a Level II, which would have been 1993 at the earliest, and then attended three Level III clinics, 94, 95, 96, and then submitted a publishable research paper, 97?)
- He served as the middle distance coach and also coached the sprints, jumps and throws at Clemson. (At Clemson? Right. Just didn't have enough coaches around, why with only a head coach, a sprint coach, a throws coach and a jumps coach. Thank God for Rodney. I think he also coached the offensive line during football. I've never seen a coach try to take so much credit... well, since the infamous Steve Thomas of UF claimed to have coached WR holder Jonathon Edwards while an assistant at NELA."
He's got good enough credentials that he doesn't have to make this shit up.
