You're saying his desire to look at some a$$ is stronger and harder to overcome than say a heroin addict or a chain smoker?

Different people deal with different addictions in different ways. You can't compare one to another.
Sex addition is less similar to heroin and more similar to gambling or bulimia. The biggest difference is that sex addition is harder to develop and quite rare.
I'd say close to 90% of the men who have told me they were sex addicts were self diagnosed. Just because you are hypersexual, does not make you a sex addict. Saying you have a sex addiction is also not a valid excuse for cheating on your partner.
For almost all that are clinically diagnosed the addiction is largely related to porn.
I'd say that you aren't an addict unless:
-you have engaged in activity that has put you in danger.
-you have incurred some big financial debt or cost from your addiction
- you have engaged in activities that could or has caused you to lose your job/career.
- you have done something that would jeopardize your marriage/family life.
- you are replacing positive activities for your addiction.
So looking at some porn here or there.. not sex addiction
Looking at pretty girls you see, not sex addiction
Noticing pretty women on TV.. not sex addiction
Skipping a day of work to watch porn? That's a problem
Spending hundreds of dollars on porn/hookers/strippers, etc.. That's a problem.
Meeting strangers from the net to have anonymous sex. That is a problem.
Looking at porn while at work. Problem
Skipping your run/gym/ family activities so you can watch porn... Problem.

What about reading this thread at work. Is that a problem?
Not unless it causes you to have to go rub one out quick.
I visit hookers once or twice a week. It's an addiction and it costs a lot of cash.
Food addiction is probably just as bad if not worse.
All addictions are pleasure-seeking tortures. I see no point of arguing which type of addiction is better than the next.

Worse...except that you will share it with 99% of the modern world. It's as if alcoholics were weaned from the breast to the bottle (of alcohol) and alcohol was present literally everywhere 24/7 and drinking was encouraged throughout the day and in every social interaction. Even most skinny people have food addictions of some sort (including me).

From what I have read sex addiction is far more common than any other addiction.
It is certainly way easier to develop since you can do it without buying anything and in your own home.
The biggest concern is the huge numbers of young people that have this malady.

Alcoholics can eliminate all drinks from their house.
Drug addicts can eliminate buying their drug.
Gamblers can stay out of gambling houses.
Etc.
Opinions anyone?
I think this is basically correct.
With gambling and alcohol addictions you can restrict your access to these things. It's much harder to do this with sex (porn). People who watch porn compulsively struggle to stop, because it's so easy to access. Also, once the alcohol or other drug is out of your system you lose the chemical dependency. But with porn, you don't easily forget the image. So the desire doesn't go away.

Prader–Willi syndrome is frequently associated with a constant, extreme, ravenous insatiable appetite which persists no matter how much the patient eats, often resulting in morbid obesity. Caregivers need to strictly limit the patients' access to food, usually by installing locks on refrigerators and on all closets and cabinets where food is stored.
Yes, it's real and it can ruin both your life and the lives of people around you. It can totally take over. People laugh and make fun of it because they don't realize how many people they know have it.
Unlike drug and alcohol, this is usually hidden with few outward signs except in extreme cases.
It is very real and very common. If ignored it can lead you down a very dangerous path. Please get help.

You need to find a support group:

It’s more like when the desire for it has taken over a person’s life, or a huge portion of it. A heterosexual male sex addict might, for instance, find it extremely difficult not to stare at an attractive woman in a public place, even though he knows that he is probably looking creepy. But unfortunately he has a compulsion that he is not able to control.
So what you're saying then... every guy is a sex addict.

Nothing too wrong with staring although you will look like a creep, but if you can't control yourself and start rubbing one out right there, that's when you may want to get some help.
only if you can't get laid
The topic of sex addiction is fascinating to me, as a drug addict myself in recovery. In fact, the topic of sex in general is fascinating.
Personally, I’ve had lots of sexual shame and insecurity my whole life. I never thought I was attractive enough. I hate myself for my lust, etc. Opiates (before heroin, now the Suboxone I’m prescribed) were nice since they killed my sex drive. I’m of the opinion that I would rather have no sex drive at all than have one, which shows the troubling relationship I have with sexuality. But being on opiates, I’d go for up to months without masturbating or sex, which is a bad thing if you’re in a relationship, and it certainly damaged my last relationship.
I will say, the times I’ve done amphetamine or meth really puts me into the mindset of a meth addict. The guy above who mentioned skipping work or doing other crazy things to watch porn? That’s me on amps/meth. It’s crazy how much of a FIEND it makes me. I’d usually rather masturbate to porn for hours rather than even have sex on it. As someone who already feels gross after going to porn, a binge on that makes me feel so awful and ashamed afterwards. I’m curious if sex addicts feel that shame always, or only if they do something immoral to someone else.
Fascinating subject.
Alcohol, drugs, gambling, internet, sex, whatever, those are NOT things that anyone needs to live (despite Marky Mark telling us otherwise), but food IS.
Food addition is the worst thing to have, because regardless, you need to consume food.
Just one drink, one shot, one bet, one view of pron or of my social media, etc., are a completely different ball of wax.
