Which spike would be better for 800/1600, and possibly 3200... Is the Mamba more specifically for steeple or is it the better choice for the other events too? I ran a 4:49 during XC if that means anything to spike choice.

I dont know about the mamba 5s but the older mambas had a more agressive spike plate than regular victories. You could also look at the victory elites. IMO the victory 3s have the worst spike plate out of the victory line.
A lot of times preference with how the spike plate feels beneath your foot is just something you gotta try them on to figure out. Both good shoes, if you have a way of trying them out I would do that. Think of the mambas as a happy medium between the victory and matubo.
All are pretty similar so it won't matter too much, mambas are more aggressive than Vic's though. Vic 2 Elites would be perfect for you Imo.
I would pick Vic 3s over mambas if you prefer 1600 and mambas if you prefer 800. Vic's also can be used for golf course xc if that's relevant but I think mambas would be a bit too aggressive.
The Mamba V is more or less an updated OG Victory with a more breathbale upper. I'd personally go Mamba V since I'm not a huge fan of the Victory 3 plate. But you can't really go wrong with either. This video has some more info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg6hQar_HCQ
Ended up ordering the Vic 3s... If I don’t end up liking them I will probably get the Mambas.
Wait, I thought the Mambas were more cushioned than the Vic 3? What would be better for a more 1600/3200 runner?

This man here ☝is right get the Mamba 5.
Mamba V better than OG victory??
What’s the sizing like for the Mamba Vs? If I’m a 10 in the Peg 35s I was thinking 9.5 for the Mambas.

Simply, yes.

Bump.
Comparing them both in person the vic 3 has more cushion than the Mamba. The mamba is stiffer than it looks as the spike plate actually goes under the shark shin into the midfoot. I can answer other questions about the shoe if anybody needs it.
Get the same size or a size up so 10 or 10.5. That's just a general rule for spikes. It fits pretty similar to the victory 3 but the laces go up a bit higher for a more secure fit. I would order size 10 if I were you but try them on in person or make sure you can exchange for another size just in case.

Similar. BTW the 2008 OGs were a commercialized version of El Guerrouj's 2004 spikes.
Most 3k-5k people have switched over from og vic to mamba 5. But 800-1500 guys like Centrowitz have not cus og vic still has that full carbon fiber plate where the mamba only has a forefoot shank.
no no no.... go with the avanti, they are the most versatile

Dead thread but OG vic and Mamba V are both way better than the avanti, 4.9 oz is too heavy and they aren't aggressive enough for shorter stuff.
