Such a talent. Great for his comeback.

A couple of the Ugandans at the Great Ethiopian Run sitting next to me said they train with Joshua and he was trying to break the WR. We were trying to find results which isn't easy on slow internet and then realized the race hadn't started (this was about noon Ethiopian time).

Some people around are a joke. Agree some performance are weird but Joshua Cheptegei is one of the most talented runners on earth at the moment, guy is so humble and down to earth, part of Kipchoge's management stable, etc.

To put his today's performance into context, his 15k convert to a 58:58 half marathon with several hills, running alone for the last 15k. Put him on a course like RAK or Valencia with good weather and decent pacers and there goes the half world record.

Or not. That is still 40 seconds away.

The fact that you don't know where hes from is funny enough. I'm pretty sure you have no clue about his running career to this point. Deeply insulting and hurtful to men who work hard to get these records and then some clown like you can so easily assume that there is cheating going on. Did you watch the World Cross from Kampala? He wins and loses with honor!

I know where he is from. I know who was training him. "A Clown like me" also knows cheating has gone on and continues to go on. Instead of directing your anger about my statement at me. Why not direct it towards the cheaters? They are the ones that formed my opinion. I do agree with you that it is wrong to think this way but the past has made me very suspect of fast times, especially from that area.

Absolutely legit course, been verified and re-verified for multiple times. First 5k are uphill, next 5 undulating, last 5k downhill. It's a loop, meets every IAAF criteria.

You didn’t know where he was from, because you said yourself you just thought he was “another dirty Kenyan cheat.”

Previous world bests have been run in this event, and ratified: Felix Limo (twice, 2001, 2009), Leonard Komon (2010) and Tirunesh Dibaba as well.

Sorry, Limo broke the record once. 2009 was Dibaba.

Right: "or not." The point is ran the equivalent to a 58:58 or so on a course that isn't very fast. It is reasonable to suggest he might be in the ballpark of the half marathon WR if he ran on a flat course in great conditions. But until he does, it is only speculation. The point is only that he is somebody to watch. Maybe he'll focus on the track this coming year, maybe the roads.
