Down to Jared Hazen and Zach Miller with 8.5 miles to go. Hazen leads Miller by about 60 seconds.

Hazen and Miller are going to run in the 5:30s today. That’s absurd considering how and slushy and muddy the trail and towpath were.
Last night, one of the race’s longtime personnel assured me no one was running under 6 hours today. #JFK50
Hazen wins in 5:34:21, 2nd fastest time ever.
Miller is second in 5:41:01.
Amazing if you consider the sloppy conditions.

Only dipshits who have never ran a 6:46 pace for 50 miles will run their mouth on it's ease. Can't wait to hear what road runners could run an hour faster.

I don't think Burns is "injured"... he just didn't think he'd run fast with the 1-2" of snow on the towpath... my wife just ran 6:45/mi for 20 miles on C&O yesterday morning, so it wasn't horrible.
Oy - I wish dearly that was the case. Achilles strained pretty badly on an easy jog Monday morning after all the hay was in the barn. Trouble walking during the week and couldn’t run at all. Would happily carry myself 50 miles and 50 miles if it would the pain go away, haha. That being said, as sad as I was not to be able to race (gearing pretty hard for that one - really happy with the fitness), the AT section would have been a big challenge for me. The towpath was pretty clear though, and it would have gave me a good shot to roll.
Really really bummed not to tango with those guys. it was a great fight between Hazen and Miller. Miller and Senseman were throwing some pretty intense surges at each other in the first half, which broke Sensemen, while Hazen was laying low. Miller actually looked to have had partially torn his hamstring early on and kept running! He and Hazen had an awesome duel, and it took until the final stretch of road for Hazen to deliver the KO. Tough running - hopefully I’ll get a crack at those guys sometime soon.

geoff, here's a tip. if you're a big enough deal to have people talk sh1t about you on letsrun, don't respond. defend yourslef with a burner account like everybody else
