Yep. And I'm betting that this guy spends more than that on coffee and lunches out every week.
Besides, doesn't everyone on letsrun make at least $250k a year? Wouldn't think a $30 entry fee would break the bank.

It's the principal of it. Not the actual money spent.

Man, way to be a cheap @ss... so a group gets together, lays out a course, gets it certified, has port o johns, has traffic control, prints posters, has chipped timing, gets people to volunteer to on the course, has a water stop or two on the course, gets food and snacks donated for the finish area..... And you think all that shouldn't cost at least $25???
If a guy like you isn't showing up to a race, good riddance.
Nope.
Because the right way to volunteer is to barter not just time, but services. People got this thing stuck in their head that everything revolves around money... money this money that. Money is nothing. Americans just got this fascination of money stuck in their head. That everything should cost something.
My little fun run went from a couple of guys/gals, to over a 100 in the past 3 years. Went from 2 people doing stop watches, to a timing company doing it for free. People and companies bring us water, snacks, and other goodies, for free. For the win, you mention port o johns, we got, not one but TWO companies that want to give us port o johns, for guess what? For FREE.
It's like when I maintain my next door neighbor's driveway and lawn out of generosity. I barter. His wife will make me a pie, dinner or even better, I let his kids use both of our properties as a football and soccer field.
As far as charities, I served on a few boards in my lifetime, and they are all corrupt. This is the primary reason why I did this.
I believe that some are just flat out envious that I organize this.
