I have questions and hoping you can help me…
Here is little about me:
38 years old male
My mileage is about 80-95 miles a week. My Easy run pace is about 8:00-9:00 per mile. My 5-6 miles tempo pace is around 6:05 per mile. My 2 mile repeats with2 mins rest x 4 is about 5:55. My 1 mile repeat with 2 mins rest x 5 is around 5:40. My long run I can do 10 miles easy and then 6:25 pace for 10 miles…
Although I ran many 20-22 miles long runs. However, on race day for a full marathon, I am not able to break 2:50. I can only hold 6:30 pace for about 15 miles and I will hit the wall around mile 18…
For half marathon, I can only hold 6:04 for 8 miles and I got “side stitch” at mile 8.3…
I have been running regularly about 2 years now…My PR at CIM full marathon is 2:59 and my half marathon is 1:23. My 10k is 36:15.
Here is my questions:
Do I run my training pace too hard?
I run so many long runs, why I am still hit the wall around mile 18~20 on race day (took 4 gels during race).
Do I need to run 80-95 miles a week?
Why I got side stitch?
My goal for full marathon is 2:45-2:50 is this possible (22 more weeks)?
My goal for half marathon is 1:18-1:19 is this possible (8 more weeks)?
