An aside, but when did people get so strict about the meaning of "sub-elite"? It's a pretty new term that was mostly invented by the NYRR (with their "sub elite field" for the marathon that only requires a 2:35) and the NYT article from 2013 ("sub elite runners chase improvement," where the featured runner was a 2:30 guy).
