Is there anyone here that has been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis at a relatively young age? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm 29 and recovering from bilateral labral/FAI repairs. Surgeon noticed my bones seemed soft during the procedures and a DEXA scan was ordered - the results are pretty troubling. Spine T-Score of -3.0 with femur T-Scores in the -1.2 to -1.6 range. My only history of bone issue(s) was a tibial SF over a decade ago. I have a history of hypothyroidism, which I guess could be related.
Is a doctor likely to forbid me from running with these values? I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor to set up an appointment with a specialist now. Anyone with experience taking medication for this at a young age (besides vit D and calcium supplements)? Any helpful info or recommendations would be great. Thank you.
