I live 20 miles from the Great Meadow Course, and get to the Virginia state meet most years. I do agree that six classifications is too much (four might be better). My heart goes out to some of the smaller teams, particularly from the rural parts of the state, as just getting a dedicated team together is often difficult. So while six classes is too many, it is hardly a high priority problem. High school sports should err on the side of participation. As an aside, a great charitable idea would be to purchase spikes for some of these kids, and i should get off my duff and find a way to do so. Many of the smaller team kids would improve with spikes, and importantly, it would make the kids closer to the sport.
In any event, I find it astounding that anyone could underestimate the Hunters. To those inclined to be negative, have you ever been to Purcellville? Now, it is a very nice town but it is distant from Washington DC and is nestled in a rural environment at the foot of the Blue Ridge. Loudoun Valley produces great runners because of the Hunters.
