Ritz was a huge stud at an early age. I think he is unperturbed by any recent drama and feels happy to ill be competing when Webb and Hall are long gone.
Desi on the other hand was fairly mediocre even through college by comparison, but is like the Little Engine That Could, and understandably has more of a chip on her shoulder. In terms of attitude I know I was more like her in that way as I finally beat some of my more talented cohorts later in life. Hard work surpassing raw talent. Now I'm more like Ritz (not in achievements, just overall feeling): been there, gave my best shot, got lucky a bit, just happy to be healthy.
The sport benefits from both.
