She's not coasting a 17:03! Wow, I mean wow you guys will fall for anything.
Perhaps I should have worded it ‘did she ease up a bit out of concern for her injury or did she push it full throttle?’

My weather app shows 19 mph wind at 10am. Don’t know what it is like without being on the course though.
It was really gusty, maybe 25 -30mph at times, but again, perfect temps and sunny.
Idk what it was like on Oct 13 for 16:53 (too lazy to check weather underground site) but 17:03 in 18-30 mph wind most likely is worth better than prior 16:53.
And good point about gusts, the app says 27 mph gusts at 10am today.
Interview is up on NY Mile Split if you want to hear her take on the race...

Except that all 6 of her teammates ran faster today than that day. From 3 seconds faster to 32 seconds faster. But maybe they simply all improved.

Do you really think an effort 15-20 secs slower over 5km is going to cause any much difference in stress on her knee? I suspect her coaches, family, friends, the athlete herself or whoever made the decision to run felt the injury was no longer a factor.
Otherwise they are idiots.

Good point. Maybe. Idk, I wasn’t there. Temp, wind, footing, pacing, competition, rested vs not rested, etc. I have no idea, was just pointing out that you can’t compare two times without knowing some of these things.

yes, really. It wasn't an injury, just a silly set back that comes with long distance running and blow out of proportion by a bunch of male posters with far too much time on their hands.
This poster, Doctor Doctor, has it figured out. Sorry for the rest of you fangirls, I mean fanmen.

In NY, before Sectionals you have to submit 10 names. If your team wins Sectionals any 7 people from this list can run in States and Federations, even if they didn't run Sectionals- as long as their name was on the list.
The down side of that is, if before Sectionals 6 of those 10 get arrested or hurt to the point that they can't run in Sectionals, ....
