I think she's in better shape than she was last year. I was surprised by the "speed limit" comment. I thought she would approach this year more like a race than a time trial.

I don't know about 2:26 but unfortunately there's no reason to believe she can't reproduce what she did last year, previously extraordinarily rare for american women, breaking 2:30
this is yet another side-effect of allowing carbon-spring shoes and not insisting them dishonest to racing
just like suddenly masters runners can produce lifetime PRs, now people who are much higher than typical elite BMI or much taller than classic elites, they can produce seemingly impossible times, I'm already bookmarking more and more occurrences
women over a BMI of 22 and men over six feet who could never OTQ previously can make it happen
Atlanta 2020 is going to be a very interesting assortment of athletes like never seen before
that is because unlike shoes that only use foam, carbon spring shoes never "bottom out"
it's literally a trampoline, the weight that comes down will always get an extreme energy return
Allie never, ever, takes off her vaporflys, not even for training, for darn good reason
unless shoes like that are banned, get used to seeing elites like her, there will only be more and more now
the "doping" is right on their feet in plain sight
I expect to see Reagan Chastain toeing the line in the 2020 Olympic Trials in 4%s.

She's cute
Wouldn't matter to me if she ran 3:26; Best looking american distance runner I've seen in ages.
'i was dating a guy last year' she lost me at that point

Sorry hon you may be too much of a fatty to give up your burgers and fries but you cant defy physics so um skinny b*tches will prevail.
Look at the kenyans. Skinny af fast af. Thats how it works in running.
This is the most revolting comment I have read all day. An anonymous keyboard warrior who has probably never run remotely close to 2:30. Allie is fast, fit and strong and has already proven you wrong. Crawl back into your hole.
228 incoming
She runs like Joan Benoit.

Allie is a champ and regardless of how she does today will always be an example to others!
2:28:12
Strong performance
Who thought she would be within 2 minutes of Cheruiyot, Flanagan, and Huddle!!

So true, in fact almost all the questions and follow-ups sounded semi-informed, unprepared and awkward, like 6th graders playing "tv news."
As for Keiffer, compared with last year the build-up has her physiologically overcooked and all this attention in the media and on the street in NYC has her psychologically overcooked. 2:28-2:35 or DNF.
Wow what a bold prediction there. Give a huge time range plus DNF.. Very bold prediction. You'll still be wrong. Continue to be a news agenda adhering sheep.
How you like me now, lil betch?

Good solid run for her!
Some of us expected it. :)

She always looks like she's on the 3x setting on a dvr. Really weird.
Huge negative split, too: 1:16:34/1:11:38

The women's leaders were out in 1:15:50. Does anyone know why Kieffer was 44 seconds behind at that point? Her second half was inside of a minute of her half PR.
The leaders started picking up the pace around the 9 mile mark running 22:30 from 9 miles to 13.1 so sub 2:24 pace. Probably smart of Kieffer not to ramp it up that quickly herself.

Thanks--pointing that out is helpful.
She is clearly in 2:24-25 shape. Very savvy running today (maybe too conservative first half). Solid success for both her and Brad.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
