Boston standards are a joke these days...
Seriously.
Fukuoka is a much, much, more prestigious race.
Do the research on Boston standards and qualifying 30 years ago...Boston doesn’t have the prestige it once did...Fukuoka does.
3/4 of today’s mega fields in Boston would not have made it years ago.
And rightly so.

I was around back then, I know. You have yet to lay out a compelling case for your claims. My statements still stand.

This weekend, any thoughts?

Except great things from Callum Hawkins. -
Hawkins has PULLED OUT, Brett Robinson is going for Rob DeCastella's long standing record, Australia has some good runners McSweyan 7:34 and 13:05 at age 23, Tiernan 27:29 is I think age 24 and B. Robinson, Maybe the best trio of Young Runners for a non African Country not using Africans.

If true, I'm going home devastated. Hawkins is one of my favorite currently active British runners after Mo. -
Race starts at 12:10 on Sunday in Japan which is 10:10 pm WR in the US as Japan is 14 hours ahead.
Here are two race previews:

I like Shitara's chances in this one.

No, he was injured for quite some time. Supposedly not running all out. -
Both Callum Hawkins and Sondre Moen are out of the race due to injury.

Anyone know if there's typically a livestream of the race?
-
Yes and for future reference if there's a stream of a race available it will be listed on this site : www.watchathletics.com/
-
Exactly, standards to get into Fukuoka:
Group A
Marathon: under 2 hours 27 minutes
30 km road race: under 1 hour 35 minutes
Half-marathon: under 1 hour 05 minutes
Group B
Marathon: under 2 hours 35 minutes
30 km road race: under 1 hour 45 minutes
Half-marathon: under 1 hour 10 minutes[/quote]
Funny how the group A marathon and Group B half are about equivalent. Anyone who runs 1:05:01 won't get in, but could probably go sub 2:20. -

Renato do not create miracles. He always get bad coached runners

Thanks for the full list.
About Moen, yeah he's had a terrible year, first a big bout with the flu and then an injury at the European Marathon race. Oh and he no longer holds the European record thanks to Mo.
It seems Renato can't create miracles each year...
with great talent to coach. And his high mileage program seems to be overloading for a couple of runners. -
Anyone got any links to the livestream?

$12.99 for 30 days at runnerspace. how can anyone complain about that? and there's dozens of archive videos.
