Where is this race and how weak is the competition? My last local 10K I ran in 40:31 and finished 54th overall and only second in my age division (45-49). This is still faster pace than you ran. I need to find smaller towns apparently.

Hey, congrats!
I won a small town 5 mile once in about 31:00. (My 5 mile PR is 29:30).
Hey, I ran my total best and I admit I'm not more than a mid-packer but it was thrilling to win a race. I'm sure people here can knock it down, but for that one day it was awesome to be running in the front. It was an out-and-back so I was getting applause from other runners as I headed back to the finish.
I didn't delude myself thinking I was some running star but it was an everyman's fantasy-come-true nonetheless.
So enjoy!!!
Hey hey hey, this thread is about ME.
JK, ya, that is about exactly how I feel... just slower, lol. Perspective later; today, just enjoying :-)
I hope one day to only be as slow as you!

Lots of fat people in the Deep South. You will still get some real competition in college towns and bigger cities, but for the most part, the very few Real Runners are so much better than the Locals that it has become beneath them to compete.

1. Do you feel that this was a key tune up race for the turkey trot?
2. Did you wear a visor?
3. Will you get a tattoo to commemorate the victory?
4. Will you return next year to defend your title?
5. Would you rather sweat cheese or cry glue?
6. Will you post a picture? (No homo
1. All jokes aside, yes. I am hoping to run well enough in a 10k around Thanksgiving to convince me I can run sub-7s for a Half.
2. Nope. Thin contoured headband (that covers your ears), thin gloves, singlet and splits.
3. What do you think this was, a Half Ironman?
4. Possibly. It is in a really cool small town, neat downtown area, coincides with a Catfish Festival... actually really fun.
5. Sweat cheese, without question.
6. Nah. As much as I appreciate my fans, I have a few stalkers here that I'd prefer not to entice.

Thanks, God, for the beautiful morning yesterday. I don't know how much you care about races, God, but I know you care about runners. Thanks for some awesome fellowship, the chance to meet some new people, and just a generally fun morning. Thanks for the ability to run; but more importantly, thank you for Jesus. It's in His name I pray, Amen.
Too little, too late.

Because they exist and I am a free man.
You voting for Marsha Blackburn?

It hurt pretty good down the stretch, but I felt in control pretty much the whole way. I never felt out of the race.

Didn't someone prove like 2 years ago that you were definitely rojo? I remember a whole bunch of posts were removed surrounding the fact.

Shhh... don't tell anyone.
I think the only posts that got deleted were ones in which I actually claimed I was Rojo...
...but that isn't exactly a denial, is it? ;-)
PS- have you ever actually compared Rojo's posts to mine? Do you think I post as Rojo and theJeff, but I only use a proofreader while using my pseudonym?
Thank you, theJeff, for sharing this wonderful piece of information with the running world. Now go feast upon your prime rib and splurge with your effing $50 gift card.
I recently ran a 5K in 20:24. Age 47, 6" tall, weight 175 lbs.
Was my race more impressive than OPs?

Yes, much more impressive.
According to VDot equivalency:
5k: 20:24
8k in 33-34min: 20flat to 20:37
Given that the OP weighs 13% more than you, no, the OP's race was better to significantly better.

OP is much taller too. Also OP a lot younger.
About 30 years ago when my wife was in her late 30s she discovered that she was a good distance runner. She not only dominated her age group but beat women far younger. One day she went to a low key road race. She not only won the women's race, but she beat the top guy. He looked so embarrassed when he went up to get his trophy.

Nah, the guy I beat cooled down with me. Good guy. Actually, a few women of African heritage commented on my muscular legs, but I am used to that.
No, just that they started us from the wrong fire hydrant, so we ran just over 5.1mi instead just under 5.
Why is it worth mentioning that the women are of African heritage?
Because it’s gay if they’re white
