I inherited a nearly dead 1990s Honda from my father, it has cost me more than what it's worth to keep it running.

Why do people love waving their c0ck around about how much they spend as a family.
15k a month is an INSANE amount of money. No family of 3-5 needs to spend close to that to live a comfortable life
If you have the coin, then go for it, but bragging about how 'hard' that is just makes you look dumb.

Well I have always been insecure. Maybe that is why I do it. I am sorry if it made you too feel inferior.

Not insane at all. If you live in NYC or the Bay Area a $1.25m mortgage isn’t insane, and with property tax you are at about $8k a month there.
$2k for groceries easy. That’s $10k total.
Not hard to see another $1k a week on various sundries, gas, restaurants, activities. That doesn’t even take into account cars or private school or vacation.
My point is, I don’t understand how you comfortably live on less than $15k a month.

Unless this is a nice house bought pre-boom then you are paying 8k a month for a POS house from 1915. I'm impressed lol.
2k on groceries is absurd unless you're a moron who thinks your kid needs all organic or they might turn out dumb (spoiler...)
Like I said -- if you have the coin, spend it. But don't 'complain' (brag) about how massive your monthly bill is when you clearly either 1) have never looked at the price of anything ever or 2) have never looked at your credit card statement.

Everyone should spend what they want on their family. I just tire of the 'I live in CA/NYC and that's my excuse' when tons of people do just fine on waaay less.
I’m sorry you live a deprived existence. It must suck to worry about how much a gallon of milk costs.

Dude I run 13:45 and have a supermodel wife and make 500k. I'm just not a moron

Good for you. Maybe we’ll meet at a Four Seasons sometime and not pay attention to the prices.
Try not to make it obvious that you're poor.
You are not getting anything at this point. You can burn through a ton of money the last couple of years of life. Too soon to count your chickens.
Yeah, it's not insane at all depending on where you live. SF Bay Area, many other areas of California, New York, Washington DC...$15,000 a month isn't all that much there.
Picture a $1,149,000 house. Got it?
Now, think of one in a California city? San Francisco? No. Malibu? No. Beverly Hills? No.
Try Burbank.
Bam!

Got the rundown this weekend from my mom, total inheritance will be about $2.5mm cash plus my dad's 2 family house and 2 rental properties. I make 175k, wife makes 100k, both early 30's, 2 kids.
Not sure what to think. On the one hand, it's pretty decent On the other hand, it's not enough to quit or jobs and raise our children properly so it's business as usual. Kind of disappointed in that regard. Wife doesn't know much about it. I'm watching The Crown season 1 on Netflix. Might get a celebratory drink alone tomorrow after work.
67 years old here. You are a fukin ingrate. What right do you have to expect ANYTHING from your parents? You should be ashamed of yourself. I hope your mom spends all of it before you get your dirty hands on any of it. Douche bag!
ChadBrad, I don't think anyone has accused you of understanding anything...

Thanks! I wonder how I manage to live nicely in one of the most desirable and expensive places on earth? Probably because I’m a moron who doesn’t worry about maximizing my coupons.
