Injures are largely prevented in the off season. Did you have any big downtime , relative rest time? Did you just do year round periodization schemes around running that didn't include massive rest followed by a new slow build-up? Yes I know everybody doesn't need it , but a lot of us do.
I spent the summer building my base running approximately 60mpw and touching on 70mpw from time to time, and plan on working up to a consistent 70mpw base building period. I wasn't able to compete in xc due to reasons unrelated to running, so I've been continuing my aerobic development on my own until track starts. Since I'm a freshman in college, my sleep has definitely decreased which is why more aches and pains have been flaring up now as opposed to the summer (but high school I dealt with injuries as well).
I took a small rest in between summer and fall of about a week, and other than that have been very consistent and my all runs were going smoothly and have been dropping time. Then midterms came around last week and I couldn't run for almost that entire week. After breaks like these I usually build back up in about 3-4 days, but now I have bursitis in my left knee (mild).
