Were you giving her the grouch treatment even though she was busting her butt picking up after you AND working to support you?

LOLLLLLLL she’s from Malibu.
Still applies to Malibu, what with Mel Gibson, Nick Nolte and Gary Busey puking on your deck, pissing in your pool or sideswiping your Porsche.
Oh, yeah, and with Charlie Sheen wagging his wienie at your teenage daughter from nextdoor. No to the Bu!

None of us probably really know. But she is from Malibu so she is most likely paying full fare with parents who make $300 k per year. She certainly received some nice scholarship offers unless she avoided talking to every program in the country. Even the top ranked programs would have given her a partial. That leaves me wondering how she didn’t end up somewhere like Notre Dame, Northwestetn, UCLA, Stanford, Michigan, Duke, etc.
Right? So why didn’t she go to one of those? Because she didn’t receive a single scholarship offer. Get this, Stanford told her not to even visit. Why? Because all these schools know she’s done, she knows she’s done, so she figured might as well get a great education, go to the place she liked the most & receive relatively little pressure to ever run at a high level again. If she does, great! If not, no worries. Pretty simple actually. And yes, I know this.

I was spending too much time “training” ... only to realize 10 years too late how stupid I was. Especially since I totally sucked at running.
Let my mistakes serve as a warning to the rest of you hobby joggers.

She's not paying a dime to go to Dartmouth, people. 100% financial aid package.
You do realize she lives in Malibu right? not exactly low income.... financial aid at Ivy league schools is based on financial need... I'm not saying shes paying 70k per year but shes certainly not going for free either
Yes I do realize that, I've watched her race more than once. She's being taken care of by Dartmouth...they can "do things", you know, "do things". It's a game pal. Look up the school's endowments. And yes, she will run at Dartmouth, 100% unless she's injured.
That's great we're in the same ballpark because I know all this too. You're my twin man! I Love You! I miss You!
what is most likely is that she wanted to go to a small liberal arts college. there are only a few choices at the D1 level, and Dartmouth is by far the best. She could have gone to Davidson or Colgate, but Dartmouth was obviously the better choice.
No female runner of her ability in their right mind would consider UCLA.
They give her grants for this, she isn't paying a dime.
What is up with the shorts?

Not sure I believe this. Even if she loses a minute or two she’d still be one of the faster girls??? Surely it would be something coaches would take a risk on, she obviously has potential and could still improve, good ethic and attitude as well as good publicity?

You’d be surprised who I am.

The shorts look like lacy lingerie from a racy underwear store.
Dartmouth is basking in the Abbie effect (even though Coogan has checked out).
Interesting choice for the high school XC GOAT. Expect to see multiple NCAA championship titles her freshman year.
What don't people understand about the Ivies? They give no aid either athletically or academically. They use a formula based on income and assets to determine the cost. It doesn't matter if you are Einstein or Cheserek. You pay based on your family's ability to pay. Lane's cost is $70k per year. Please call the coach or their financial aid department to find out how it works. If they do anything differert for an athlete, they would be suspended by the NCAA. I had a son who ran 4:07 junior year and had nearly a perfect SAT. He was heavily recruited by several Ivies and we were thinking about Princeton until the financial aid package showed up. We were offered a $1000 reduction off of the sticker price of $65k at the time.

You only wrote this to brag about your son & income, didn't you?
I believe this. Good for her making an education decision.
Not every runner out there wants to be a hero on Letsrun. Though for some here its tough to imagine.
Running is a short period of your life, and be both a benefit or a burden. She seems to a smart young lady.
