Last I heard they were in danger of losing their accreditation. So, yeah, probably for sure.

In my current position at work I vote on the selection of college graduates for employment at my global institution.
The quality of applicants we get from Hillsdale college is mind blowing! There has even become a sort of positive bias we have towards that applicants from Hillsdale because so many of them have gone on to be so successful. All other things being equal we tend to give the benefit of the doubt to a Hillsdale grad over other schools such as U of Michigan or Stanford. I didnt know much about Hillsdale until I was placed in my current position, but when I did the research on the school I was shocked that they were a D2 school.
If I had a kid that was about to go to college I would stronly encourage Hillsdale over nearly any other school, to include some of the Ivys.
After reading the other posts I feel the need to speak again.
This opinion is from someone who is not a Christian.
We recieve applications from hundreds of schools per year (to include all the Ivy league schools), and while Im not sure of the actual stats I can tell you that the amount of applicants from Hillsdale that go on to be successful in our institution is so high that we actually give them the nod if there is a tie.
It is that level of "institutional bias" from employers that makes kids want to go to Harvard or Yale in the first place. They know that the name recogniction alone will help them land good jobs.
Are you a just troll or an admissions rep for hillsdale?
*just a troll

Adams State has academic programs.
This is a joke right?
Must have been a typo - fixed it. It was pretty funny tho
Second Truman State. Small liberal arts state school, competitive academics with great scholarships/financial aid. Good name recognition in the Midwest, less so on the coasts.
Not great running school.
Background: went there. Am a doctor
MIssouri S&T is a very good school especially for Science & Engeneering
Keeping with Missouri schools...
Drury University in Springfield, MO is known in the area as a great academic schools. Their XC/TF programs are lackluster, but their men's basketball team won nationals in the Spring of 2013.
Someone already mentioned Missouri S&T - they've got excellent engineering programs and have had some individual success at the national level in XC/TF.
Can vouch for Truman State.
That's really all I know.
Chico State has a decent engineering program, and mechatronics is hugely marketable.
I went to MTU less than a decade ago. I now make $100k+/yr. You have to like snow and math though.
Actually, this is not true. They teach evolution and the college is, in fact, not religiously affiliated at all. There are religious students for sure, and maybe even a majority, but the college attracts conservatives and libertarians given its position as one of only a few schools that don't accept federal funds of any kind. It was also a leader in the abolitionist movement and was the first college in the nation to adopt a non-discrimination charter (back in the 1840s) and was one of the first colleges to graduate both blacks and women. Hillsdale has great academics and increasingly being recognized nationally. They recently realigned with a less competitive conference so athletics will go downhill in the future, but this is a respected liberal arts college first and foremost, so who cares?
I went to GVSU for engineering. I would consider it a good school across most fields of study.

GMAC>>>GLIAC
Who does the GLIAC have left? They've lost half their conference, Walsh, Malone, Tiffin, along with Hillsdale. GSVU and SVSU are about the only good running schools left in the conference and very little can be said about other sports. Hillsdale hedged their bets with a conference that has a future.
UC Davis ~30 years ago.

Good overall schools? It depends on what you're looking for. I'd say a lot of D2 schools offer good programs depending on which schools you look at but a lot of them aren't amazing overall as a school.
If you're going to look at a D2 school, look at what you're going to do before you go there because quality options might not be abundant if you switch majors.
My D2 school was known for nursing, education, and different areas of business. In these areas, we rivaled a lot of the public D1 schools in the state. Our engineering program was just taking off but was not known for being anything amazing.
Holy Carp! I was just about to say the same about my school. Not only did you steal my username (maybe I stole yours, not sure), but now you're taking the thoughts out of my head.
forget about the track and field.
Pick the school you want to go to for academics.
As long as there is a program there to run (or jump) you can make your own success.
I ran D 1, but came from Overseas and had medaled at the O trials without ever having a coach.
Focus on the school you want for the future. Unless of course you are Sidney McLaughlin. She doesn't need the school.

From what I understand, the only thing "radical" about Hillsdale is that they have a strong and unbroken tradition of teaching the truths of Western Civilization and not discriminating against student applicants based on race or sex, even when that means taking ZERO federal dollars. In addition, I did some research... their biology department doesn't teach young earth creationism, and they do not have any religious affiliation other than being founded on Judeo-Christian values.
This year Princeton Review ranked them as follows on a scale of 0-99:- 98 for Professor Accessibility
- 98 for Professor Accessibility
-99 for Interesting Professors
- 95 for Academics
- 90 for Quality of Life
Last time I checked, thats higher overall than any Ivy League school.
Dont listen to the liberal bullsh*t, they're just upset that Hillsdale is winning.

I attended Hillsdale and ran for them. This guy is understating the situation.
Sure they don't discriminated based on race/gender/etc., but when I was there the college was wringing its hands over whether gay students should be allowed to be openly affectionate in public -- I believe the discussion was over hand-holding and maybe kissing. In 2009 the board of trustees basically said no:
"In 2009, a group of Hillsdale students tried to form a Gay-Straight Alliance. The following year, the Hillsdale Board of Trustees explained why the club was prohibited in a news set of guidelines 'regarding the mission and moral commitments of Hillsdale College.'"
If that's not enough for you, the guidelines also say that all sex outside of marriage is morally irresponsible. Which is fine if you're coercing your students to follow the tenents of a specific religion... but pretty frickin extreme for an institution that claims to espouse "civil and religious liberty." Any suggestion that Hillsdale encourages free thinking is laughable.
