I'm bumping this just for the ALL CAPS -
Eric - do you know what $17 dollars looks like? It’s magical.
-
I don't care if it's a cash grab at all if it keeps the site free and the usually great content and articles coming in.

VF 4% has an 8.9 rating but does not appear on the best rated list. There is something wrong with your lists.
-
Am I missing something. The Adidas shoe is advertised as $83 and the best price offered once clicking onto the site is $96 & shipping. The others are higher than listed also, at least the ones I checked. Do I need to enter a code or do something to get the listed price?

Even cheaper if you buy it online.

Launch 5s are $75 for anyone wondering

Translation: The most expensive shoes are not the ones bought that most people buy.
"Most popular" as rated as "most reviews" says nothing about the quality of the shoe or the rating. It just means a bunch of people bought it (possibly because it was cheap). -
Nike makes great racers but the Pegs are crap

Winflo 5 cost me $50, and it's enough of a mix between the Vomero before it sucked and the Elite 8 before they get brick hard that I like it.
And that's the most cash I've used for running shoes in over ten years.
If I find Boost for under $50 I'm in. Otherwise, I'm waiting around for the TPU knock-offs. I bet you guys wait in line for the new iPhones, too. -

Folks on these boards represent the top 1% of runners in the US. They know which shoes work for them, log thousands of miles, and have no need to try a new model until the ones they are rely on become scarce. Often, they receive free shoes from sponsors of their club, or are gifted them by friends that work in the running industry.
As a result, it only makes sense that the most popular shoes purchased by people on this site are last year’s version of a proven shoe (ex: Nike Pegasus 35). You are likely to find the exact same prices for these shoes at any speciality store that still carries those models and has them on sale to create space for their new inventory (usually ~ 6-9 months after model release) or marathon expo.
Buying these older models through the LRC affiliate links or off amazon is the same thing as buying these from a bargain bin at your local running store. There is one big difference though, and it is the aggregate of inventory that is found through those links that no local store can compete with. That being said, amazon isn’t exactly sponsoring your local 10k, packet pick ups, hiring local college track athletes, donating to your local trail system, organizing group runs, or hosting your running club.
Nothing wrong with ordering online, but give your local store a call and see what their prices and availability are in those models if you benefit from their involvement in any of the above ^^^. They may be able to provide the exact same shoe that day to you for the same prices. If they can’t, then yeah get LRC them affiliate $$$ and order through the links provided here. -
Who would pay $85 for shoes online when you can get the same pair for $120 at a running store or Dick’s?

because our local running store has about 20 different shoes as compared to online where about 200 different shoes can be bought.
Thus I believe it is worth it to pay a reduced amount for the online shoes. -

Care to explain? I have been using some pegasus 32's in my rotation and I like them although I need just a tad bit more stability I think. I didnt know they were classified as racers I wear them on my 3-8 mile runs which is mostly concrete or asphalt.
Im not calling you out im a newer runner havent tried many shoes yet but wondering what your reason is for calling them crap.. if you have a legit claim or if you're just nitpicky. -
I was getting 300-350 miles on the Pegasus and Ghost years ago when I switched to Hoka.
I have over 1,800 miles on the Bondi I am currently wearing.
I would have to buy 5 of your "top" shoes to get the same mileage.
5 X $75 = $375
Bondi seems like a GREAT buy at $150 retail !! -

Who wants to rummage through hundreds of shoes when you can go to the local store, pick from 20 and be done with it?
