i think marita koch would have something to say about that.she had as much leg speed as felix, but was a lot better over 400 meters.her range was the greatest.
no she wasnt clean, and neither is mclaughlin.theyre american, and fast, which immediatly looks suspicious..all good american athletes use peds.

LOL
Doped to the gills Marita Kock of THE EAST GERMAN DOPING PROGRAM?
dude. come on.

There is no way her yearly base is $1.72.
UA did not offer her $2m.
Im not sure why people believe these over inflated numbers presented by agents or so called insiders.
Her ROI does not make sense short or long term.
They NB may be close to a $5 billion in revenue company but they are not stupid.
Only way these numbers pan out of is if your talking total value of a multi year agreement.
I completely agree with this. She'll get a base of $250k but if she wins Olympic gold they'll pay her $2m, Nike won't pay bonuses like that because they don't think they need to.

Unless you can provide us with the signed contract your purely assuming gossip and rumor.
Um, no. There's actually quite a wide spectrum between "seen with my own eyes" and "gossip and rumor."
People in the industry--people who actually know what athletes get paid--are guessing that her deal is around 2M. It's also pretty well known that NB pays more than anybody. People who know about marketing, even outside of track & field, can see her huge potential.
Let's also keep in mind that 2 million is not a huge marketing outlay in the scheme of an overall marketing budget for a major global company. The reason people here seem incredulous is because their anchor point is the poverty-level contracts that most runners get. Well, most runners get those kinds of contracts because they are actually almost worthless as marketing tools, and the shoe companies see it as a sort of duty to at least be in the game. Those contracts have nothing to do with contracts for the kind of person who probably will be in ADS that cost hundreds of thousands (or more) to produce.
This is great news for Irish athletics. Congratulations to her!

Not possible. Unless that athlete is a 100/200m star, it won't happen.
She is compelling. Charismatic (despite what some people think). Stunning (never hurts).
And has the ability to back it up (the opposite of Anna Kournikova)
2020
400H Gold
4x4 Gold
Then in 2024
400H Gold
400m Gold
4x4 Gold
You are off on this.
She will have two 4 x 400 golds each year with the addition of a mixed gender 4 x 400s. The mixed gender is going to be interesting. Will it devalue the 4 x 400s or will the social justice warriors eat it up and it will elevate them? I predict the latter.
"One insider told us..." LMAO.
She was not offered $2m a year and is not making $1.75m per year. There are 10 runners or less in the world that make that kind of money
Large running companies don't just throw around millions on pro runners. They do their homework and they aren't stupid. ROI doesn't make sense for those kinds of numbers. She won't generate that level of sales, brand loyalty, etc. She's making MAX $200k per year
Team New Balance hold the indoor Wom\ans DMR Record you'll see that promoted during indoor season.
Putting her on that team tipped off many of us to the fact that New Balance really wanted to sign her and I'm sure SM gets (got under the table?) a share equal to the bonuses the other Team New Balance members got.

I'm really confused by this. What is a mixed gender 4x400 and what does it have to do with social justice warriors?
Wow, the agent average nailed it.

You’re smoking mad crack if you think she is making that.
Brommel is getting 1 million a year from new balance, and degrasse signed to puma for 30 million dollars over 10 years.
Syd is getting no less than 800,000 a year with incentives probably to make close to 2 million. I wouldn’t be surprised if her base is 2 million a year.
No agent in the world would let her sign for 200,000 a year ....come on

WRONNNGGGGGGGG. Thanks for playing.
http://dailyrelay.com/the-monday-morning-run-andre-de-grasses-contract-is-way-bigger-than-you-thought/Deal was $11.25 mill GURANTEED money, with up to $30 million in bonuses. Read article. Its about guaranteed money. Also a bad example to list Degrasse because he has an entire country to himself in the track world; larger market for just one guy. Syd isn't the only face in the U.S. Her contract may be for millions WITH INCENTIVES, but she simply isn't making millions per year base.
NEXT.
The point is sprinters get paid! His base is 2.25 million, not far from the 3 million that I thought he was getting, and it is for five years!
So suggesting Syd's base is 220,000 is incredible inaccurate. Hell, that's the money star distance runners make. I would imagine that Emma, Simpson and Martinez are making that yearly at New Balance if not slightly more with incentives.
Also, there was a huge bidding war for her! So that chick is easily making 1 million dollars or more as a base....A huge bidding war just for her to accept 200,000 a year? please
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if her agent got her around 3 mil a year .

Great picture of Sydney wearing NIKE in the article about her signing with NB.

Fine. Maybe I was off. $1-$3 mill just sounds very high. We will see, if numbers come out

...in a country about 1/10th the size of the U.S., where she is already more well-known than DeGrasse is in Canada.
