How much water should I drink per day
How much water should I drink per day
It naturally depends on the health, age, size and weight as well as activity levels, the type of job they do and the climate they live in.
Our body is composed of about 60 % water. We tend to have lower water content as we age, so babies have the most. The elderly are often down around or below 50 %. If you don’t get enough water, you can become dehydrated. As a result, and in order to prevent dehydration, you need to drink adequate amounts of water!
An ideal intake of water consumption for adults is about 2.5 liters of water daily. This quantity includes drinking water, drinks of all kinds and the moisture available from the food and products we eat. As long as you are drinking pure water or fresh fruit or vegetable juices then it looks like 4 glasses a day is a good minimum number of intake. The rest of your fluid intake should be managed by a healthy diet.

"Normal" healthy people just need to drink when they're thirsty. Runners should drink to the point that their pee is always clear. If you are drinking that much water, make sure you are getting enough nutrients so that you aren't just flushing everything out every time you go to the bathroom. I used to have very low sodium because of the amount of water I drank and I would cramp up after hard track sessions.

Drink your body weight in water every two weeks. Easy. If you weigh 150lbs, then you should drink about 1.28 gallons of water per day on average.

Your demands each day will vary so I wouldn't say there's a magic number, I'd aim for a range of 1.5 - 2.2. litres per day but it depends on your diet also. Someone who is eating lots of water rich foods will need less.
