Plus, Rupp's build-up this year was much worse than last year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fall 2017 Rupp plopped in Berlin 2018 run 2:04-low. Still would be 2.5 minutes behind Kipchoge...
It would of been 2:10 on account of all the German sausage he'd had inside him.
All that matters is the time you DO run. Facking Galen fanboys will do anything to tell themselves he's one of the top guys.

An Olympic bronze medal from Rio in the marathon and an Olympic silver medal from London in the 10,000m don't tell them that?
And the idiocy continues
He's the only American we got able to hang with these guys. Everyone else just posting dumb AD s@#% on instagram...
Proof:
Galen Rupp 2:06:07 A Volkswagen Prague Marathon Prague, Czech Republic 5/6/2018
Tim Ritchie 2:11:55 A USATF Marathon Championships/California International Marathon Sacramento, CA 12/3/2017
Scott Smith 2:12:21 A Mainova Frankfurt Marathon Frankfurt, GER 10/18/2017
conditions were tough yesterday. if he was in a 40/50 degree & no humidity kind of a rabitted race scheduled for 1:02-1:02:30 through halfway there's little doubt that he would be able to sustain it to run 2:04-05. but, the day you get isn't always perfect and he remains a 2:06 guy.

Does he need to hold Alberto's hand while he's at it? Rupp is a 2:06 guy when the WR is 2:01. He's not faster than Mo, and not even the fastest NOP guy. And I have a feeling that when The Hair runs a marathon, that will be all we're talking about.

"Rule 260 was adopted after considerable analysis by longtime road race statistician Ken Young, and fellow statisticians. It reasoned that downhill courses had to be faster than flat courses, and point-to-point courses, which could have favorable point-to-point tailwinds, had to be faster than loop courses, where winds would essentially cancel each other out."
I'm shocked that Amby would say something so obviously untrue. Ken Young (R.I.P.) deserves better than that.
If someone can come up with an accurate way of comparing performances on various courses on various days, I'd love to see it. My PR seems awfully slow these days, and I welcome the chance to bring it down by a few minutes (or more) by adjusting for lack of pacers, suboptimal weather, uneven splits, low-tech shoes, old-fashioned water stations, unhelpful winds, no elevation losses, and course conditions that never approached modern laboratory standards.
Rupp is easily a 2:03 even 2:02 guy and easily beats Mo or Kipchoge if given the chance!
The guy ran back to back 206 marathons and is a two time Olympic medalist and you're still hating on him. The anonymous posting on here is POISON!

Exactly and we don't currently have any American Born Athletes close to him 10000-Marathon, His 10000 American Born Record could last OVER 30 years, Same with Evan Jager in the Steeple.
Yes we might get a Kenyan or Ethiopian who becomes American who beats Rupp's 10000 Record, but no American Born Athlete who has Descendants in the USA before the Hart-Cellar/Immigration Act of 1965 which greatly improved the USA
