Ran a marathon in 4:11 with my highest training week of 29 mpw. Probably averaged 20-25 mpw for the last 8 weeks.
Other than asking why and telling me I have no business running a marathon on such low mileage... how much can I lower my time if I trained seriously and put in 50-60 mpw?
Peak marathon mileage = 29 mpw

additional information needed such as age, weight, and such.
no doubt it can be reduced by many minutes. -
To paraphrase Paul Tergat, ask yourself can I train more and the answer is usually yes.

Theres no way to tell. We could have some vague guesses Have you run any other distances? An all out 400 might give some kind of clue of what kind of leg speed you have.

Sarah Sellers just ran 2:37 off 30 mpw max.

I would be happy going sub 3:30. I'd like to give it a try. Gonna go for a long build some I appear to be injury prone. -

(0) You do have a business running a marathon on such low mileage. It's totally up to you and thousands of runners run marathons with lower mileage than you. It's just much more fun with high mileage.
(1) No reason to be proud low mileage.
(2) My girlfriend ran faster (on less mileage, but remember: low mileage is nothing to be proud of)
(3) Nobody know what you could do with higher mileage. Most probably faster.
(4) Train and get back to us. -

Maybe I am your girlfriend and I am proud of my low mileage since I can't humble brag about my bf. -

I'd say anyone in reasonable shape, who doesn't need to lose weight, could get sub-3 in 2 years of consistent running above 50 mpw. It mostly depends on how much time you're willing to devote to running. Anything over 70 mpw and your GF will start to question whether she comes first; The answer will obviously be no, but you can just buy her nice things after big races. -
I think you can improve your time by an hour or even more.
I bombed my first marathon with low mileage and made newbie mistakes last year. On my second marathon this spring, I tried following a structured training and peaked at 70 miles, which resulted to 1 hour and 20+ minute-PR(I'm not fast, I'm just another hobby jogger).
I'm now training for my 3rd marathon this fall and with 70-86 weekly mileage and I'm already feeling the difference in my fitness level.
