Her 15:15 was impressive, as well as her 10k win at Stanford. Honestly with all this marathon training behind her she's probably built a big enough base and needs to start training for the 10k. Will she win 10k gold in Tokyo with the likes of Ayana and Hassan, no, but she was never going to win a marathon gold either. She has a shot at the 10k team and if she does well could place in the top 10 (still a stretch) at the Olympics, and the fans will respect it, that's a huge accomplishment. I think the hardest part will be making the team though.
10k: Infeld, Sisson, M Hall, Schweizer, V Fraser, Tilamouk
Marathon: Flanagan, Hasay, Cragg, Huddle, Linden, S Hall, Infeld?, Thweatt, Tilumouk?, K Taylor etc
I mean, the marathon team will be so much harder to make. Don't forget, Flanagan, Linden, and Cragg went 6-7-9 at the Olympics (really 5-6-8, Gold medallist got popped for EPO). So whoever of these women even makes the team is going to probably be someone with the potential to at least get top 10.
But that 10k team isn't easy either. Most of the huge talent has shifted to the marathon, but if Fraser and Schweizer run (more likely for Fraser I think), Bowerman would be sending 5 women (vs 3 for the marathon) for a 3 person team. I'd say Infeld is a lock if healthy and if that 10k race comes down to a kick, Hall might be a lock too.
Oh yeah, and let's not forget that any of the women who don't make the marathon team will probably go for the 10k on the track in the summer. Let's say the same 3 in 2016 make it. That's Huddle (a lock with Infeld), Hasay, and S Hall/Thweatt/Tilumouk/Taylor
I mean, heck, the 5k team might be easier for Jorgenson at this point. But still can't see her beating Rowbury, Houlihan and Schweizer, but MAYBE Mackey, Hall, Tully, Schneider etc.
