I've now been living in the Big Apple for a month, and am ready for your questions.
I still have my naive optimism about the world.
Things are going well. One of my dogs vomited on the new rug on day #1 and then we ruined it trying to clean it and on day #2 my other dog jumped off a 20 foot wall, but landed without a scratch. Starting to feel settled in.
I've met 3 random LRCers in a month which is a bit weird as I never ran into people in Fort Worth who knew of the site. Was talking to this guy last week in the park as I was walking my dog and he chuckled when I told him what I did as his wife makes fun of him for spending too much time on Runingboynews.com.
Observations.
1) I almost never go to the east side of town.
2) The only thing that is the same price in Texas are $1 soda cans at the bodegas.
3) I'm amazed by the guys who set up the fruit stands outside of just about every grocery store and sell fresh fruit and vegetables at lower prices than the stores.
4) NYC is very dog friendly if you're near Riverside Park.
My big question:
1) Why does the Shuttle train exist when the 7 train runs the same route?
Currently trying to offload my truck at a used car lot in NJ.
I've lived in New York City for a month, ask me anything.

When are you planning to get mugged?

How much is the Rent?

Are you voting for Larry Sharpe?

Isn't "The Big Apple" moniker a bit dated, with its co-opting of fruit terms against emerging veganism, and useage of size-based ("Big") adjectives to describe?
-
I've lived here in Manhattan for more than 40 years and have never gotten mugged. The "mugging" thing is so 1970. Almost every neighborhood in NYC has now been gentrified.
I don't go over to the East Side much either. -

And I have been living in NYC for 25 years... But please, DON'T ASK me sh*t!!! -
Can I sleep on your couch while I'm in NYC in a few weeks?

How much $ did you drop at Scores in month one?

Going from Texas to NYC, sometime next spring, tell us about your tax bill.
Having lived in both places recently, but neither anymore, I can say, stash aside a few bucks from each paycheck to cover your taxes. They will go up sharply, very sharply.
Fort Worth - Federal income tax only.
New York City - Federal income tax, state income tax, and city income tax. Ouch. -
so they can have trains running more frequently between grand central and time square
also the 7 train stops in between grand central and time square, the shuttle does not -
"on day #2 my other dog jumped off a 20 foot wall, but landed without a scratch."
Was that while you were pacing the dog at 4:30 pace? -

i used to live in hells kitchen and when i would go to Grand Central(to work in a running store) I would get in the times square station and take the S to Grand Central. I would say that the 7 is unpredictable compared to the S. S probably just exists as a crosstown connector between the 123 and the 456. 7 's main purpose is to bring in commuters from queens....... The West is the best that goes for Manhattan as well. The only reason to east side is Panna II for some fun Indian food. -

NYC is one of the safest large cities in the world. You'd really have to go out of your way to get mugged. I doubt you've been here. -
Why and the hell did you move from the great state of Texas to a Lib cesspool like NYC!?!? Aren’t you like 50 years old? Mid-life crisis much bruh?
