I'm one of the most socially liberal people here, but just as a general societal question here in the US...
,,,when did all this hugging to greet each other start?
Johnny Carson used to greet male guests with a handshake, and any hugging of a male was done for comedic effect.
Jimmy Fallon practically puts on the clothes of his male guests, he hugs them so much...but it's not just him...it's seemingly everyone.
So, what started this? Black dudes doing it first and the rest followed because they set the "cool" culture here in the US?
I honestly have no idea and am looking for answers.
When did men start hugging men?

You managed to fit sexism and racism into one post.

Not too mention disprove his own statement about being socially liberal. No socially liberal person would have posted this topic. -
When they transitioned over to adopting genuine human emotion?

It is neither of those things.
How is asking when men started to hug each other sexist? It isn't. It is a thing that has become a norm in our society that was not one back in the 70s. Perhaps not as noticeable to you since you are not old enough.
And racist? You have got to be kidding. I wasn't saying that I thought that about black dudes. I was giving an answer as an example that perhaps someone was going to say. I might disagree with that if someone said it even.
You don't know anyone more liberal than me. No sexism here or racism ever. -

INCORRECT!
Just was curious when it all started. You think that means I'm against it. Nope. Just recognize it as a thing that has evolved since I was a kid. -
Oh well, I knew most of the comments would go that way.
Just means none of you know how and when and why...well, except for the one dude with the exact date; at least he knows when. -

Gay rights. Now that society isn't as anti-gay as it used to be, we can give our bros man hugs instead of awkward formal handshakes or incredibly lame fistbumps without worrying about being called "f*ggots." -

Ok. Perhaps that's it. I've never had an issue with gay people, so I didn't even consider that. My parents are uber liberal hippie types, and we had all kinds of people in our house when I was growing up including some Chinese nationals who were in the US to learn about radio broadcasting (my Dad was the host of a radio show). We had US government vehicles sitting outside our house the whole time they were there. -
If the topic does not concern or bother you, why would you post about it at all? Then you go on to assume that the concerning act was started by "black people."

1) She isn't old enough to remember the 70s. Just a fact, not ageist.
2) There is only one dude more liberal than me, and it is doubtful that she knows him. So, statistics there. -
Flagpole: what you should say at this point is this. "I apologise for my post. I didn't realize at the time how offensive it was."
Instead, your backpedaling is only digging the hole even deeper.
I have requested that you be banned.
