A woman named Gwen Jorgensen set an ambitious goal for herself. Whether she achieves it or fails to do so will not affect your life in anyway. I am intrigued by her pursuit but ambivalent about the results. Meanwhile, everything she says or does inevitably results in hundreds of replies on this message board.
So what's the real reason some of you yahoos are so irked by her pursuit of her goals that do not affect your life in any way what so ever?
I to am intrigued by her pursuit, but wish to see he do well. Unlike, it appears, most that have weighed in. I don't understand, why some would wish ill on an athlete of her caliber. Except perhaps that the bulk of the people on these boards are male, and she likely:
1.) Is a better triathlete than they are, if they compete in that sport and,
2.) Is a better runner than they are, if they even compete.
3.) She is also a gold medalist. Most if not all of her detractors likely will never have a prayer of getting to this level, or even qualifying for the trials in anything. Or winning a local road race or event in a track meet ( I may be wrong in this last sentence but I doubt it).
She has expressed her goals, they are lofty. She's a marketer. I've not noted any tears or sobbing when she does not do as well as she expects. Good for her. If there were more Gwen's in the sport of USA T & F, it would be quite a bit more popular, I suspect.
