There seems to be a bit of controversy over this year's Boston entry. I guess you had to run a few minutes faster than the qualifying time to get in.
So my question is, would you rather have a fixed target (2:50 for young men, say), and allow fewer than 30,000 people to race; or would you rather have a moving target (3:00 which becomes 2:55 on race day) and fill it up to the max of 30,000?
Basically I don't understand the source of the controversy and animosity but I'm interested to hear arguments I haven't thought of.
