No, she didn't say she needed $1M for security. According to her attorney any surplus will go to various charitable causes. Most likely they will prepare a detailed accounting to defend themselves from any accusations of misuse.

I saw a post by a guy on a message board pretending to know a girl that accused 5 guys of sexually assaulting her. He just made it up though and he doesn't really know a girl like that.

Hopefully there is a male in your life SOMEWHERE that you care about. Imagine now that they can be crucified either legally or in the eyes of the public, based on nothing more than an accusation. There is NO evidence. Zero. No physical evidence, no corroborating witnesses. The accuser can't even accurately name the place or time of the alleged assault.

Before you get all leftist on me, just know that I do think POTUS is probably guilty of sexual assault. Not only does he have a typical pattern of behavior, but he's had multiple accusations, multiple settlements, and has admitted to grabbing women by the p**Sy. I got no problem going after guys like this. but when you can vilify a man based on nothing more than an accusation, something is seriously wrong.

Problem is that research is based on claims that are actually prosecuted. For every prosecuted claim, there are far more that are never prosecuted due to lack of evidence. And there's simply no way of knowing how many of those are false or true. MY guess is that the proportion of false claims in the "not prosecuted" category are higher than in the "prosecuted" category, but there's really no way to ever know. It could be higher or lower. And I don't know about you, but I'm not really comfortable with convicting 2% of people falsely for a crime, much less 10%.

Another huge problem here is defining sexual assault. In the oft-quoted study about 1 in 5 women being victims of sexual assault, the definition ran the gamut from actual penetration with objects or fingers to simple unwanted advances (which could include touching a clothed shoulder with your hand). Hopefully we all agree there's a huge difference between a guy trying to kiss a girl and her pulling away (and that being the end of it) and say, Brock Turner.

The fact that you know "a couple of false accusers" right away should raise antenna. If you're an average person in the population, this would suggest they are more common than some would have you believe. I personally know two, so I believe this.

Thanks for a reasonable post btw. I have some close to me who *have* been assaulted. I don't think is a subject to take lightly obviously. But will in a lot of cases be very difficult to adjudicate due to the he-said, she-said nature.

Two people that attended the same high school hooked up while the girl was a freshman in college and he a junior.

She: cheerleader, skier type, white

He: a 6 foot 3 football player, black

But to make things interesting this was no ordinary black urban kid versus rich white suburban chick battle in the media.

This dude was Nigerian black and his daddy was a 25-year renowned anesthesiologist who could feed his extended family in the slums of Lagos where he grew up and still come out well on top every month. Big house and exotic vacation home. This guy luckily came to bat for his son.

First of all, most every one of the party goers and common friends of both parties totally disbelieved the girl. Second of all, the problem was proving a 19-year old girl who had yet to be diagnosed with any sort of mental disorder would have either been too intoxicated to recall an accurate story or would have possibly processed it wrong.

This was very hard and cost money that most families could not afford.

The girl dropped out of college and was alienated socially from her group of friends and the guy pretty much stopped partying and just concentrated on school. He was a straight A student from then on but he was basically forced to quit the team at the beginning of the investigation.

This guy might be the blackest guy I know and he is HUGE but I have to tell you all, knowing this guy all my youth, there is not even a chance he was guilty. Though he fits the profile he was no brute. This was a kind person. Soft spoken, polite and very good manners. He genuinely cared about others and quite often was a designated driver for friends including very attractive girls. So he had been in similar situations one on one with drunken females many times before yet his female friends TESTIFIED openly and honestly that he was more trustworthy than other friends.

The girl was from a pretty wealthy family herself and her dentist father tried to save the day in the first instance above. They lost. Then for a second similar accusation for "stalking" with a different guy her dad was there supporting it too. They won. Years later her future boyfriend started phoning people from her past and accusing them of having sex with his girlfriend. Two years later a new boyfriend does the exact same thing.

Turns out over time that the girl is completely delusional, a compulsive liar, has a behavioral disorder and constructs some very thick triangulations between men in her life. It's now a known pattern. She has burned most every bridge, has a rap sheet in the 10s orn20s of criminal charges but because she is half way decent looking still after all the drugs and alcohol and has financing to back she can adapt to the next scenario on a dime.

Meanwhile, the original Nigerian kid from back in the day is single, paranoid about being put in similar "situations" where people can get the wrong idea and is separated from his original friends. He is really paranoid to the point it alters his overall social skills. He is too nice. He is too genuine. Constantly trying to make up for something. This event changed his life at 20-21 and the false accusation part totally rattled him to the point where all we wanted to do was move somewhere else and start over. It hurt him inside and drew out a lot of time, energy and emotion from his family.

It just sucks because the media and the courts typically always end these situations one way but though it was an 18-month process this time it ended the other way and in the favor of the defendant on paper.
