Devastating movie but one of the best films of all time.
Incredible performances by all the actors. The ending of the movie is something I’ll never forget.

pure example of narcissism self pity porn.
I hadn't seen this movie in years but this thread persuaded me to watch it again tonight on DVD. I had forgotten some of the things that happened to the characters, including the end result for Jared Leto's character.
Great must-see movie but definitely for those with weak stomachs. Graphically showed the downward slide of drug addiction as it spirals into the abyss. I can't decide which character experiences the worst crash; probably either Jared Leto's character or Jennifer Connelly's.
If you have not watched it you are missing out.
A lie is in the detail. There's just too much detail here.
Remembering the month and year? Strike one.
Remembering the other film in the theater? Strike two.
Remembering the weather that day? Strike three.
All of these memories of minutia from 18 years ago? Strike four.
Girlfriend? Strike five.
I'm guessing you first saw this movie no more than one month ago, if at all.
PS...I've never seen it.
Sorry you don’t believe me. I even have the ticket - and I keep all my movie tickets. This movie was memorable and terrifying so you tend to remember details of things like this, more so than something like a dull rom-com that I saw at some massive multiplex in the middle of the summer.
Do you remember your 5k pr? The time you ran? where it took place? Was it in the fall?
I fail to see the difference.
Am i the only one who didn't like the movie that much? Don't get me wrong, it was a good movie from a technical/artistic standpoint, had good acting, etc. But I just found the script to be extremely heavy handed, it just was way too moralistic for me. I just didnt find it believable, they went just a bit too far in every aspect.
I thought it was a great movie. The music is creepy but really cool. They use music from that 90's game Syndicate Wars if anyone here has ever played it and watched the game intro. The women in it trying to lose weight should of taken up running. She should have done a couch to 5k instead of taking all them pills. My favorite part was looking at Jennifer Connolly. She was a real cutie pi and I like to think she would be my soulmate if I met her.
Requiem for a Dream is good but I liked Pi better.

Pi is good. Requiem is good. Event Horizon is indeed creepy. Blair Witch/Exorcist are super scary. But I'd say The Sum of All Fears aka nuclear war is the scariest.
It is so good.
"Requiem for a Dream" really puts the lie to the notion that the movie is never as good as the book. The movie is WAY better than the book.
I liked "Requiem" quite a bit, and Pi. Haven't seen either in years.
Since you seem to, in a kind of masochistic kinda way, like upsetting/disturbing movies, see, if you haven't already, " Breaking the Waves." Didn't really love it that much, but it fits the bill if you are looking for upsetting, disturbing art movies. (or several of that dude's movies)
I've seen Breaking the Waves...as well as the other Von Trier film "Antichrist" which I thought was very good.

Lars "von" Trier movies require a certain level of self-flagellation.

Agreed. Electro therapy? This movie wasn't set in the 50's. And Harry's outcome?
It was sad to see. Didn't the electro therapy happen in a Clockwork Orange at the end? The big Indian guy killed Jack Nicholson at the end so I'm guessing he did it because it wrecks everything in you and he thought killing him would be nice.
I meant One flew over the cuckoo's nest but clockwork orange does have some things in common
Try watching Dancer in the Dark. Makes Requiem seem like a Disney movie.
Great movie. Now watch Jennifer Connelly in “House of Sand and Fog” for another disturbing time!

Amazing film.
If you haven’t already seen it, watch Black Swan. Another Arenovski film about someone being consumed by their own idea of perfection (basically like all his movies).
Pi is a good one too.
I haven't seen Requiem in years, but this thread is making me want to go back and watch it again. I remember it being one the darkest things I've seen.
I watched Black Swan much more recently and loved it. Natalie Portman was as great in this as she was bad in the Star Wars trilogy.
Now for a more uplifting look at Jennifer Connelly, check out The Rocketeer ... va va Voom!!
