Disclaimer: I work at Nike, so only selecting from Nike models.
That said, if I could only have one pair of running shoes for everything, I'd pick the Nike Zoom Elite 9 (haven't tried the 10 yet).

If going by brand:
Adidas = Boston
Nike = Zoom Elite
Saucony = Kinvara
And if we're drinking: Stranhan's whiskey. :)
NB 890
Saucony Ride 8!!!!
Lunaracer (yes I bought a few extra pairs before they were discontinued)
Adidas Adizero Boost.
Brooks Pure Flow (flexible, cushioned, supportive and light)
*Adidas adizero boston

really nobody has said the kinvara??
lightweight and fast, enough stuff under foot for long runs as long as you ease into it... super cheap online and fits like a slipper. these aren't my favorite trainers but if i could only pick 1, these are the way to go imo
Same. Id go with the Kinvara. They aren't currently in my rotation though.
Me too. The earlier models were also really soft in the back of the heel to not bother my chronic insertional Achilles tendonosis. Unfortunately I just discovered the Kinvara 9 is a lot stiffer in the heel. Back to square one.
Eventually you'll all try the Champion shoes.
Pegasus Turbo... Hreat shoes!!!

Pretty Much every Brand has a shoe that would fit this category and it all kinda falls under the idea of "lightweight trainer"
Personally its pretty tough to rank but the main shoes would be: Nike Peg Turbo, Adidas boston, Saucony Kinvara, NB Vazee Pace or 1400, Brooks trancend (all brooks kinda suck dong tho). Asics Dynaflyte
I disagree with this, but I suppose "lightweight trainer" is relative. The Dynaflyte is a 9 ounce shoe, which is a solid ounce to two ounces heavier than its competitors. I don't consider 9 ounces a lightweight trainer. The Saucony Kinvara is 7.6, for instance. Asics used to have a lightweight shoe when they had the Gel Lyte series (about a 7 ounce shoe), but they discontinued that for who knows what reason.

Adios Boost. In fact did run exclusively in these for about 2 years, after getting a few pairs super cheap. Have run 5k to ultramarathon in these without issues.
+1 for the Adios.
Nike Zoom Elite 9 or New Balance Zante V1. Both are super versatile in that I could do repeats in them if I needed to, and they'd be fine for a long run as well.
Reebok floatride run fast. I'm surprised not many people have picked up a pair of these. Light and amazing.
zoom streak or Mizuno Sonic

Three Stripes have the three best "one shoe for all" options.
Takumi Sens for one shoe for the minimalist crowd.
Adios hits the perfect sweet spot for the fleet guys
Boston, best all around shoe, period.
+1, but you left out my choice the Adidas Tempos - the Bostons, but with a stability feature. This makes them a little heavier, but they have the same snug upper, but forgiving toe box as the Bostons, and the same cushioning. If you need a motion control shoe to train in, but also had to race in your trainers, this is the answer.
